Ibadan, Nigeria: A City of Rich Culture and Challenges
The capital of Oyo state is Ibadan and that's where I live,it is located in the southwestern part of Nigeria. Ibadan is known for its rusty brown roofs that stretch as far as the eye can see. Ibadan has a unique charm that blends traditional Yoruba culture with modern urban life.

Safety is a concern in different parts of Nigeria and Ibadan is not excluded. It certainly not as violent as some other parts of the country but we face our share of challenges. Petty crimes like pickpocketing and phone snatching are very common here, especially in crowded places and at junctions. There is also occasional armed robbery but it's not as frequent as larger cities like Lagos.
Even with the issues, I love living in Ibadan, the markets are vibrant, full of color and life, the pace at which life moves here is actually more relaxed unlike Lagos state, which makes for a less stressful daily life.
One of the best places I love to visit is the university of Ibadan campus. My sister always told me about the place when she was a student there. It's lush green environment and beautiful buildings provide a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
would I recommend Ibadan to others?
It depends on what you're looking for. For looking for, if you're interested in history and culture then Ibadan is the place for you. Also it's cheaper to live here than live in Lagos as apartments are a bit affordable here. But for those looking for a fast-paced lifestyle and modern amenities, Ibadan is certainly not for you.do I love my city? If given the opportunity, will I travel elsewhere?
Yes I love my city, it is home. But if I have the opportunity, I would love to visit the United States.
No matter where I travel to or go, I'll always return back to Ibadan, it's home for me. It's not perfect, but it's a place where you can feel the heartbeat of Nigeria.
