The Time Has Come to Utilize Your MERITS

MERITS are a soulbound currency that was initially given to those who were participating in Guild Brawls. I have been participating in these events ever since they started with rest of the Guild mates I have in Roaring Twenties. Over the course of gameplay I had collected a good number of MERITS. I opened few Gladius Cases and I turned out to be very lucky with the contents. There was one thing holding me back.

Blood + Power Stones were purchases with DEC. This became problem for me as I am already lacking enough DEC to use in Praetoria. The opening of Gladius Cases had to be set aside for some time. This caused me to not use Gladiator Cards in Battles unlike some of the other players. In many occasions I found the Gladiator Card/s to be the biggest challenge.

Everything changed when @splinterlands made it possible to buy Blood + Power Stones with MERITS. I already had a sizable collection of MERITS and I was eagerly waiting for this change to happen. It was approved by a DAO Proposal (where investors/players vote with their SPS stake). Below is the results I had today spending my MERITS.

Opening 200 Gladius Cases

Since I already had 188 Gladius Cases remaining, I did not have to buy many new Gladius Cases. 200 was selected as the number because that is the largest number of Booster Packs that can be opened at once in @splinterlands.

The process of opening these becomes very special when there is a bulk of Gladius Cases with many Gold Foil and Legendary Cards. It has been some times since I saw the opening animation and sound effects.

Below is a list of all the Cards that were in the 200 Gladius Cases. Cards of the same Monster of the same foil are grouped together. As you will seem the luck was not as great as it used to be during the first few Gladius Cases I opened.

MERIT Cost of Opening Gladius Cases

There is no point in opening Gladius Cases without Blood + Power stones. These double the chances of receiving Legendary and Gold Foil Cards. The value of these Cards far outweigh the others and statistically speaking, it is in the best interest of yours to open Gladius Cases with the Stones.

I calculated how many more Gladius Cases I can open with the remaining 40,370 MERITS I had in my account. Each opening require 5 Blood + Power Stones which cost 645 MERITS in total. Total cost to open a Gladius Case is 2,645 MERITS. Keep this number saved in your head or anywhere in your notes. It will help you figure out the exact combination of Gladius Cases + Stones you need to purchase to optimize your @splinterlands gameplay.

# Opening 15 More Gladius Cases

There is no point saving up MERITS! I cannot sell them for anyone. There are no other use cases for MERITS. They are there to be used to get more Gladiators for the Collection. With the ability to purchase Blood + Power Stones with MERITS, there is no reason to hold off buying and opening as many Gladius Cases as you can based on the simple calculation shown previously.

All these Cards have been used to combine and Level Up to have stronger Monsters for Battles and Brawls. Overall result so far is a Silver League Level for most of the Cards. I will have to open at least another 1,000 Gladius Cases to have a Max Level Gladiator Collection. That is 2.645 Million MERITS. I have a long way to go. For reference, I spend most of my time in Gold I and Diamond III Leagues. It will be a long time before I have some Max Level Gladiators.

Happy Gaming! Happy Investing!

That’s a lot of gladiators coming into your collection in one go.

They are only enough to get the Monsters to Silver League Levels. There will be a lot more of these needed to reach Max level.

I have many Legendary Cards, but none of them are Gold Foil. Two of my Epic Cards are Gold Foil. It will take some time before I get these to Max Level. The good thing is that Gladiator Cards are very powerful even without reaching that far.
