In this past season, the 109th, I decided to do something different. As I mentioned before, my idea was to move all accounts to the modern mode in the current season, and that's what I did. But before that, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try new possibilities. Having more than one account helps in these types of experiments, so I tried to place among the top players on my secondary accounts without using energy, to see how they behave and how the current ranking system is after the changes.	Nessa temporada que se passou, a 109ª, decidi fazer algo diferente. Como disse anteriormente, minha ideia era mover todas as contas para o modo moderno na temporada atual e foi isso que fiz. Mas antes disso, resolvi sair da zona de conforto e testar novas possibilidades. O fato de ter mais de uma conta ajuda nesse tipo de experimento, então resolvi tentar ficar entre os jogadores com melhor ranking em minhas contas secundárias sem usar energia, para ver como elas se comportam e como anda o sistema de ranking atual depois das mudanças.

The energy system is something relatively new https://ecency.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/announcing-a-new-energy-system-for-splinterlands-ranked-battles and the value paid to obtain them varies from 1 up to 500 DEC, depending on your league. Here's a negative point: the price of energy is calculated based on your previous league. Since my accounts usually stay at diamond/gold, I really don't think it's worth paying 50 or 150 DEC for each energy. My strategy was the simplest possible: to use my cards that I have, mostly Beta and Beta Rewards, and rent new cards from other collections and let the account roll. No extremely strong cards like BYZANTINE KITTY or SCARRED LLAMA MAGE, just cost-effective cards to rent.	Minha estratégia era a mais simples possível: usar as minhas cartas que tenho, a maioria Beta e Beta Rewards, e alugar novas cartas de outras coleções e deixar a conta rolar. I had a big surprise when I discovered that yes, it is possible to rank up without buying energy. Did I succeed? The answer is no. This is because sometimes I don't have time to always keep an eye on the rental system and we all know that it's common for people to cancel rentals and leave us without the ideal cards. Another point is that I couldn't rank up due to key cards. The game has certain cards that can help you achieve your ranking goal, but I didn't want to have a 100% chance of ranking up, I just wanted to test it out. So, I didn't study these key cards and also didn't want to rent them, since it would have an extra cost. It is possible to rank up without having extra expenses, but keep in mind that there will be extra costs for some key cards. Isso ocorreu porque às vezes não tenho tempo para ficar sempre de olho no sistema de aluguel e todos nós sabemos que é comum as pessoas cancelarem o aluguel e ficarmos sem as cartas ideais. Outro ponto é que eu não consegui pegar rank devido a cartas-chave. O jogo tem certas cartas que podem ajudá-lo a atingir seu objetivo de pegar rank, mas eu não queria ter 100% de chances de pegar rank, eu só queria fazer um teste. Então, não estudei essas cartas-chave e também não ia querer alugá-las, já que teria um custo extra. Com a conta "vinicio.spt" reaching rank 24, I learned that it is possible to be in the ranking without using energy. Maybe I'm wrong, but is the Modern mode easier? If the account reached rank 24 in the Wild mode, what rank would it be in the Modern mode? I don't know and I'm not going to do that test. One thing I noticed is that the lower the league, the easier it will be to try to rank up. The question is: if you need energy, is it worth buying? Well, I reached 1599 rating and rank 24. If I bought energy, maybe I could reach rank 20 and win 2000 DEC, but honestly, I don't think it's worth it. If you want to rank up, focus on the bigger prizes and not the smaller ones.	Com a conta "vinicio.spt" chegando ao rank 24, aprendi que sim é possível estar no ranking sem usar energia. Eu posso estar enganado, mas o modo moderno é mais fácil? Se a conta conseguiu o rank 24 no modo Wild, em qual rank ela ficaria no modo Moderno? Eu não sei e não vou realizar esse teste. Uma coisa que notei é que quanto menor a liga, mais fácil será tentar pegar o ranking. A pergunta é: se precisar de energia, vale a pena comprar? Bem, eu cheguei a 1599 de rating e ao rank 24. Se eu comprasse energia, talvez conseguisse chegar ao rank 20 e ganhar 2000 DEC, mas sinceramente falando, eu não acho que vale a pena. Se quiser pegar ranking, foque nos premios maiores e não nos menores.

I think the energy system is quite important. I couldn't stand seeing those "players" with 3k games played anymore. I think it's more fair for everyone now. I still don't like the current rank model and the rating system, how you lose or gain points, but the energy system is good if you know how to use it.	Acho o sistema de energia bastante importante. Eu não aguentava mais ver aqueles "jogadores" com 3k de partidas jogadas. Acho que agora está mais justo para todos. Eu ainda não gosto do modelo de rank atual e do sistema de rating, de como se perde ou ganha pontos, mas o sistema de energia é bom, sabendo usar.

I think the best strategy is to have or rent good summoners, preferably legendary ones. I didn't do that and a summoner with 3 abilities is much superior than the others for everyday use. The others are good, but for rank, the legendary ones are ideal.	Acho que a melhor estratégia é ter ou alugar bons invocadores, de preferência lendários. Eu não fiz isso e um invocador com 3 habilidades é muito superior aos outros para usar no dia a dia. Os outros são bons, mas para o rank, o ideal são os lendários.

I came to the conclusion that it's possible to achieve a good rank even without energy and with few cards. You can see which cards are used in vinicio.spt, they're not anything special or expensive. What is needed to achieve a good rank are small daily adjustments to your deck and always pay attention to canceled rentals, something I don't have time for.	Cheguei à conclusão de que é possível alcançar um bom rank mesmo sem energia e com poucas cartas. Vocês podem ver quais são as cartas usadas na vinicio.spt, não são cartas nada de mais e nem tão caras. O que é preciso para pegar um bom rank são pequenos ajustes diários em seu deck e sempre ficar atento aos aluguéis cancelados, coisa que eu não tenho tempo.

One thing I learned from this test is that even in lower leagues like bronze, I still received good chests and some gold cards. Therefore, it's something to consider if it's worth staying in the lower rank to get more chests, but of lower quality. For me, I liked the test results, but I plan on taking all accounts back to diamond or gold rank in the next seasons.
