Introduction

Hello SplinterFans....I hope that you are all doing great on the battlefields of Praetoria, fighting and winning one glorious battle after another...Now, let's get back to the main topic of this post...

I have been playing Splinterlands since June 2018, and since that I have been building my deck and assets in the game.
My son, who is 12 years old as I'm writing this, has been looking over my shoulder all these years. At some point, late 2021, he asked me if he could get an account, so that he could play the game with me. We created an account, and bought the spellbook, and I sent him some cards so that he could get started...At first, this was not a success, he only played like 20 ranked battles, and decided that it was to difficult for him...We talked about him joining the game again later on...
A couple of months ago he was ready to try again...He played some more battles, watched videos on Youtube and so on. He played a few seasons, enjoying the game in the Bronze league. At some point, he saw some videos, and asked me if we could try out on of the bot services, to maybe earn some more rewards...We did that.

At this point, he has been building a deck with a collection power of more than 20,000, and he has 1625 SPS staked, more than enough for a decent experience in Bronze (I bought almost all of the SPS for him, around 1600).

With a deck like this, worth around $50, we can easily compare him with a typical new player joining Splinterlands.

New Player Experience

Last season, leagues were capped, and with a deck consisting of level 2 summoners, and cards max. level 3, my sons deck was doing allright in the Bronze league, he sometimes reached Silver in the end of the season. Playing like this he was able to get 5-10 daily Bronze Chests, and 10-15 Silver chests end of season.

Now, with the new league system, where nothing is capped, his deck pretty quickly accelerated into the Gold league....

This sounds very nice at first, acually untill today, where the daily rewards were Gold chests...As you can see, he's not able to earn any daily rewards anymore, he doesn't get enough RP because of his "small" SPS stake.... Well, this is maybe just today and tomorrow, if he loses enough battles, he'll be back to Silver...

It actually gets worse, if next season's rewards are based on the highest league reached this season, then he'll been earning Gold season chests next season...Then he'll probably be able to earn only a few season chests.....What is there to play for then, and what is the fun in that?? Is he really expected to buy a lot more SPS, to get some more RP per win?? That was actually not the idea behind this....We put in some money in the beginning, to be able to play the game and earn a little bit of rewards...Realistically, we are not expecting to earn a lot, just a little bit....The fun part, opening chests that you have won, is gone..

Conclusion

I don't think that this league system is fair, and a good experience for new players, if they earn a little in the beginning, but as soon as they move forward a bit, rewards begin to dissapear.....unless of course, they put in a lot of money...both SPS and cards to level up....This should be something that people should do because they want to, not because they have to....This will automatically come later, as they get more and more addicted to the game...This applies only to new players, getting them in, giving them a great experience, making them want to invest more in the game.

By the way, how is it possible for a deck with a collection power of 20,000 to reach a rating of 2120 (Gold III)...???
