Battle Pass - is it time?

In this article, I will cover something I would really like to see in the Splinterlands and that is Battle Pass.

Why am I writing about Battle Pass?

Splinterlands is an amazing game. It is fun. You can learn a lot about crypto and even about life. In Splinterlands, basic economic cycles are explained as well as rules of demand and supply. You can learn a lot because cycles do not last for 20 years but for a few months.

On the other hand, Splinterlands is looking a little bit stale. Something is missing and if you ask me that is progression. Yes, you can progress from Novice League to Champion League. But that is a very long journey, especially if you don't want to invest a lot of money.

So if league progression takes time, we need some other kind of progression that will keep players in-game and that will attract new players. Once again we can learn from the biggest game out there, Hearthstone. While Blizzard did a lot of things in Hearthstone very badly and made some really bad decisions, one thing is amazing, and that is progression! To be more precise that is Rewards Track!

Hearthstone's Rewards Track offers that Carrot on the Stick. You can see exactly how much EXP you need in order to unlock another reward that can come in the form of a card, Gold, Pack, Card Background, or Hero. Even when you manage to get to the max level you will still gett Gold for every next level that you manage to get.

This is something that Splinterlands has to introduce. The fun and meaningful system where players will strive to get "just one more" level. Splinterland's Reward Track could be a bit different, it could offer different rewards depending on the MAX league that you achieved in the Last Expansion.

Instead of Gold, we could offer some SPS, instead of one card you could get multiple copies of the same card while the number would depend on the league where you are playing. On specific levels, we could offer Packs or Skins. For every 50 levels we could offer vouchers, which you could redeem for a reward card of your choice. The possibilities are endless.

But what about Battle Pass?

Battle Pass (the equivalent of Tavern Pass in Hearthstone) would be something that you could buy to unlock better rewards in the game. You could get more SPS, more copies of a card, and skins that are not obtainable otherwise...

That part would be made for players. We could pay 10 USD per month and that part would be made for Splinterlands devs. You could buy it, but it won't be necessary. That 10 USD would definitely help the Splinterlands team to cover their salaries, expenses, and so on.

And yes I wrote 10 USD and I mean it. You could buy Battle Pass with Card, Pay Pal, or something similar. No cryptocurrencies! That would be insurance that even if we hit the bear market again, the Splinterlands team has enough money to continue the development of this amazing game.

It is the perfect time to buy some cards and rebuild your deck. Packs are not selling as fast as expected so prices are stable. I expect them to go down even more once we sell more packs. But there is always a possibility of new players joining and buying tons of cards, so be careful.
