Cheap & competitive Silver league Death splinter deck.

With Chaos Legion out for a few weeks now I am starting to build my future decks. I already covered the building of the Life splinter decks and Earth splinter decks in my last articles. In this article, we will go through the Death splinter deck building, one of the cheapest decks to build in the new Chaos Legion expansion. That is why we will focus on building a Death deck with as little money as possible.

So let's get started:

Same as in previous articles, I will focus on cards that are affordable. I will not build a deck using expensive cards like Mimosa, Cthulu, or anything similar. Yes, those cards are amazing but I am on a limited budget(so is most of you) and I prefer to spend my money in such a way that will enable me to play competitively in the highest league possible. For now, that is Silver I, though I might level up Death splinter for the Gold league as you can get there very cheaply.

And remember:

I am planning to build a Silver deck and my goal is to be competitive in the Silver league. So I will be looking at maxed-out cards for the Silver league. Those cards may not be good for the Bronze league or leagues above Silver.

Death team

The good thing about Death splinter is that most of the cards from Chaos Legion expansion are very cheap. I managed to create amazing Silver I deck for only 230 USD where almost half of that money is spent on the summoner. For a decent Gold league deck, you would pay 460 USD. Those prices could go down even more prices of summoners go down as well.

For our summoner, we will go with Thadius Brood, a new summoner from Chaos Legion expansion. For the max level Silver league, you need 25 BCX of Thadius Brood currently priced at 4 USD per BCX which equals 100 USD. Quite expensive, right?

This is the most expensive card, but it is still a lot cheaper than older Death summoners. I expect that Thaddius Brood will go down in price once the general sale hits the market and that should happen in a little more than a week. I would be very happy if I could get one BCX for 2-3 USD. Health debuff is very useful regardless of the splinter you are playing against, and the magic debuff is situational. Based on that we can say that Thaddius is a good summoner. The only problem that I can see around Death splinter is the lack of damage, but we can go around that with some older cards.

Tanks

You could be surprised by my choices of tanks but as I already said, the goal is to build the cheapest possible deck that will perform well in the Silver and maybe in the Gold league. For that purpose, I decided on Pelacor Deceiver. For only 5 mana you will get a tank with 10 health, 4 speed, and Flying ability.

That means that Pelacor Deceiver can dodge some ranged and melee attacks. All that for only 3 USD for a level 5 copy is really not bad. If you want to play in the Gold league you will pay 5 USD for a level 8 copy. Amazing right? The second tank that I am planning to buy is Crypt Beetle. Very cheap and useful card because of Shield ability. You can use this guy in the Small League ruleset or as a tank against Sneak attackers that are very popular lately. Of course, there is another option that is currently too good to pass and that is Harklaw. This legendary tank is amazing for the current price of 5 USD per BCX. I suggest leveling this guy to level 2 because of his Immunity ability. He is cheap now, but in the future, I can see his price going up again.

Damage Dealers

There are not many amazing damage dealers in the Death splinter, especially not in Chaos Legion expansion. That is why we will be forced to look in other Splinterland expansions to fill this gap. But there is one great damage dealer and that is Silent Sha-Vi. An amazing card with good attack speed and health. On top of that, this snake has Sneak ability and all that for only 0.2 USD per BCX. For around 11 USD you can have maxed Silver league copy of this assassin.

There are also other damage dealers that are very cheap and that I am planning to get from my Death team. Shadow Snitch is a good card for the second position where playing low or mid mana matches. It is very cheap and you can get a level 5 copy for less than 4 USD. Riftwing is another cheap card and on level 5 he has Scavenger and Backfire ability. With a high speed that could be a killer combination. Soul Strangler is a good damage dealer. Basically, you will pay 3 mana for 3 damage in the Silver league, and all that for less than 8 USD.

When talking about magic attackers, Death splinter also has a few good options. Djinn Muirat is certainly one of those options. With Void Armor and Giant killer abilities he is not a joke. Knock-out ability can further enhance his damage but I didn't find any suitable stunner for the Silver league. If you find any, let me know down in the comments. He is a bit more expensive, but level two can be bought for 34 USD which is not bad for a legendary monster.

The other two cards that I like are Life Sapper and Venari Bonesmith. Both cards are amazing though I like Venari Bonesmith a little bit more because of the Poison ability. Both cards have Life Leech ability which makes them sometimes hard to kill.

I must also mention Corpse Fiend, a card that you must have, but level 1 is enough. Zero mana cost cards are amazing and you must get them all. Just remember how many times you lost the game because you didn't have Furious Chicken in your team.

There are also two optional cards that I would buy if I have some cash to spare. Dhampir Stalker is not that amazing due to high mana cost and low speed, but he is very cheap and he can be just fine in some matches. Cursed Windeku is a great card but once he gets Heal ability. If you don't plan to play in the Gold league maybe it is best to skip him as this money can be better spent in other areas. If you will play in the Gold league someday then you better get him while he is still cheap.

In the end, we do need some cards from the Untamed edition. The first card is Soulstorm, an amazing card with big damage and a huge chance to dodge enemy attacks. The second card is The Gorldon. I could actually level up this guy to level 2 for that extra damage. Level 3 would be excellent but the price is quite high. Of course, the benefit would be True Strike ability that would compensate for low speed. Anyway, The Gorldon is a great second spot card because of the big health pool and Reach ability.

Summary

For only 231 USD we can get a full Death team at this time. I would say that this price would go down a bit once the general sale hits the market. Most of our money will be spent on Thaddius Brood but we need to spend that money. For that money, we will get 7700 CP. Surely there are better USD/CP opportunities but I was focusing on the cheapest deck that could be viable. If you have better ideas please let me know down in the comment.
