Cheap & competitive Silver league decks

With Chaos Legion out for a few weeks now I am starting to build my future decks. I already covered all other splinters and now it is finally time to cover Fire splinter too. At first, I was amazed at the Fire splinter in the Chaos Legion expansion, but how time passed I noticed that other splinters are a way better choice for me than the Fire splinter. The reason for this is that other splinters are way cheaper(like Death and Life) and more versatile(like Water) than Fire splinter. Of course, this conclusion is based on a limited budget. If you have the money for Yodin, then yes, that is another story and maybe this article is not made for you :)

So let's get started:

Same as in previous articles, I will focus on affordable cards. I will not build a deck using expensive cards like Yodin, Magnor, or anything similar. Yes, those cards are amazing but I am on a limited budget(so is most of you) and I prefer to spend my money in such a way that will enable me to play competitively in the highest league possible. For now, that is Silver I, though I might level up Death splinter for the Gold league as you can get there very cheaply.

And remember:

I am planning to build a Silver deck and my goal is to be competitive in the Silver league. So I will be looking at maxed-out cards for the Silver league. Those cards may not be good for the Bronze league or leagues above Silver.

Fire team

The new Fire splinter is very interesting. We are still focused on melee damage but we got a bit more health that will certainly help when fighting against magic teams. I still feel that the best version of Fire splinter is when played with Yodin Zaku. There are amazing ranged cards that are working perfectly with Yodin.

While Yodin is so expensive we must focus on other summoners. Chaos Legion expansion brought us an amazing new summoner, Tarsa. She is a better version of Malric Inferno because she will buff your team with +1 melee and +1 health. This is really good for the Fire team as it increases attack and additional health will make our fire teams more resilient against magic attacks.

Tanks

There are a lot of tanks for the fire team and it is hard to pick just one. They are good tanks but there is not one perfect tank that you would pick all the time. Fire splinter cards in Chaos Legion expansion are a bit mana expensive so it is hard to build a team for low mana, especially one that will strongly benefit from Tarsa. Forgotten One is an amazing tank with Immunity and Retaliate. When you add good health, armor, and big attack to that you have a real beast there. The only downside is that you will need 13 mana to play him with Tarsa and that is a lot.

Tusk the Wide is another option that is great against magic attacks. He is not that expensive mana wise but he does not have any protection against melee or ranged attacks. With only one armor he would be way better. Antoid Platoon is amazing but only for really low mana matches. The Shield ability is always a good ability. His weakness is magic attacks but that is a risk that you will have to take. In the end, Living Lava seems like an amazing solution. It is not too expensive and it has Shield ability. Health is a bit low but still good enough so it will tank a few hits.

When talking about Neutral splinter Legionnaire Alvar seems like a good choice. Void Armor ability is looking amazing when combined with Scavo Hireling. Even when he takes magic damage Scavo will repair his armor so this is looking like a good combo. Another great thing about Alvar is his Giant Killer killer ability which makes him very dangerous for high mana cost cards.

As the last tank, I must mention Grum Flameblade. An absolute beast of a card. I would say that Grum is by far the best monster in the game so far. Can't wait to use him in battle and to try out some strategies.

Damage Dealers

Fire splinter does have a lot of damage dealers. I noticed that sometimes it is not easy to build a team in lower mana matches as all good cards are a bit more mana expensive. Tenyii Striker is an amazing card that you must have in your team. With Sneak and Dodge abilities, he is the perfect card for the last spot in your team. With 3 damage he will deal with a lot of the threats in enemies backline.

Another card that I really like is Flamesmith. I think that he is very underrated, especially now when Grum Flameblade came into the game. Flamesmith does have a higher speed and Shatter ability that will create the perfect situation for a big attack by Grum. Another option is to run Qid Yuff as a summoner, but that is a more expensive solution. Flamesmith is a good card for the last spot as he has 1 armor that will block enemy Sneak monsters. Lava Launcher is an amazing reward card that I strongly recommend on level 3. With big damage, armor and, Close Range ability you are looking at a real beast. And best of all, it is really cheap.

Scavo Firebolt and Djinn Apprentice are two amazing cards that I recommend for you damage dealers. Even on level 1, they have decent damage, and they will only do more damage while leveling them up. Radiated Brute is such an interesting card because it is so cheap. I can't afford to not buy this card as he has 3 attack in the Silver league and that is unbuffed. He is a must-buy for that kind of money, same as Lava Spider. Those two cards are not the best, but you can get them for a few USD and you will need such cards, trust me.

On the other hand, Djinn Inferni is a card that you must have to deal with enemy Giants. In the Silver league, he will deal 8 magic damage to the enemy Giant card(10 or more mana cost) which is huge. An amazing card for those high mana matches. In the end, I must mention Serpentine Spy, an amazing damage dealing card with Opportunity ability. A level 2 is a must-have for any deck. That extra speed will help you in killing enemies Serpentine Spy.

Utility

There are not many utility cards in Fire splinter. Scorch Fiend is a must-have card. You will put him in the last spot to soak Sneak attack or in the second spot to soak Snipe attack. A great card that you will use very often. Flame Monkey and Scavo Hireling are two great cards that you will use with Grum Flameblade. Due to his Void Armor ability, he can soak melee and magic damage with armor, therefore Armor Repair is an amazing ability in combination with Grum, especially as his armor and health are huge.

Neutral

I already mentioned Scavo Hireling in the utility part but once more you really need this card. I would suggest Gold Foil because you will use that card a lot and a 10% more DEC reward is nice. Another card that I recommend is Disintegrator. Let's be honest, you need only level 1 because you will use this guy for Demoralize ability only. You don't need to level him up because with 2 attack he won't trigger his Trample ability that often. He is good with Fire Splinter because I guess that with Fire Splinter you will often face other melee teams and then this debuff could be very useful.

Summary

For only 245 USD we can get a full Fire team at this time. I would say that this price would go down a bit once more packs will be opened. Most of our money will be spent on Tarsa but we need to spend that money. For 245 USD, we will get 8950 CP. Surely there are better USD/CP opportunities but I was focusing on the cheapest deck that could be viable. I feel that this deck is very versatile and it can be played in many ways and in many rulesets. If you have better ideas please let me know down in the comment.
