Dragon Challenge

Hi fellow mages!

We are covering another battle challenge, and this time it is my favorite, Dragons! Dragon challenge is interesting because you are not limited to one card, but rather the whole Splinter. And that gives me flexibility while writing these types of articles, and I like that.

In this article, I will choose one of my favorite new cards - Agor Longtail. This is a beast of a card and I use it whenever I can, or better to say, whenever my mana cap lets me. It costs 15 mana and it really excels on level 3 when he gets the Heal ability. He serves as a really big Tank. His Flying ability makes him evade attack sometimes - it is not something you can rely on due to his average speed, but an occasional miss could save the day and give you that few HP differences that are the difference between victory or defeat. Void Armor is that amazing ability and the reason why this guy has 20 HP and that big HP is the primary reason I use him. The secondary reason is his double attack with 3 melee and 2 magic attack at level 3 which goes to 3 attack for melee and magic at the highest level. Six damage per turn is a lot and the best thing is that it can't be blocked by Forcefield ability.

With all that, I would say that this is one of the best cards in the Riftwatchers expansion, at least if you ask me. The price of 22 USD per BCX certainly says that as well. So let's see Agor in the battle.

Agor Longtail - as I already said, Agor is one of my favorite cards. He has two weaknesses and those are Affliction and Furry. Affliction can be often countered with Cleanse, and that is why I like to play Agor in combination with Life splinter where I often use Corsair Bosun for that job. It also has Reflection Shield which comes in handy in some matchups. There are not many monsters in the game with the Fury ability but Resurrect and Repair abilities could help against that.

Carnage Titan - another Dragon Splinter monster that is simply amazing. He can play an off-tank role in matches where you don't expect a lot of magic damage. Shield ability will certainly help him in that role. Six damage per turn (thanks to Doublestrike) is a lot and the best part is that damage will not be blocked by the Forcefield ability. An amazing card that I often use on the second spot due to his Reach ability.

Djinn Renova - one of the cards that feels underrated. It has a Strengthen ability that will buff your whole team and Triage that will heal one monster that is not in the first spot. With 7 health it can even tank some Snipe damage. 3 magic damage is not bad either so it can do some serious damage.

Time Mage - is a monster that I probably use most often - if we are talking only about Life Splinter. Slow ability is just amazing and much necessary because monsters in the Life splinter are quite slow. When used with Quix it can help your team even more by rebuffing the enemy team. Rust ability is also quite nice and it can often be the difference between victory and defeat. Time Mage is a card that is a must-have if you ask me and that's why it was a crucial part of this team as well.

Adelade Brightwing - I didn't like this card a lot and I was not using it very often. But when it is paired with Agor Longtail it is very good because of 2 things. Agor Longtail has armor and Void Armor ability- Which means that monsters will always attack his armor, therefore Repair that Adelade has is quite useful. Resurrect is another ability that is amazing. It resurrects the monster with one health but with full armor. In this case, it means that it will resurrect Agor with 1 health and 6 armor - which is actually 7 health. This makes that combo really strong. It could be countered by monsters with Scattershot ability and some lucky strikes.

Chaos Dragon - is just a big monster with a lot of health, armor, and damage. 3 magic damage is quite nice and it is even better when combined with the Blast ability. Scattershot is a problem for me on this monster as your damage is not focused. Often it will attack targets that you don't want, but sometimes it will hit that one target you are hoping for and ensure victory.

Summary

Dragons are often monsters that are mana-expensive, strong, and can really have a big impact on your team. Agor Longtail is certainly one of those monsters around which you build your team. Amazing stats help him survive for a long time which gives your backline the opportunity to finish off the enemy team. I think that this is at this moment one of the strongest combos in the game. Of course, there are also other cards in the game that could be added like Oshuur or High Priest Darius but I don't have the luxury of playing those cards so I have to manage with cards I do have.
