How good is Sea Wreck?

Hi fellow Battle Mages!

Today I will be writing about the new airdrop card that we are getting from Rift Watchers expansion, Sea Wreck. Not take into consideration that all stats/abilities for this character are in the testing phase and are subject to change but still, we can see what is the vision behind this card and how could we use it.

Like with almost all other cards from the Rift Watchers expansion, Sea Wreck is a high-mana cost monster and here we are talking about 11 mana. This means Sea Wreck will be weak to Giant Killer ability. Speed is also interesting since it is very low. While that is not very attractive it could be quite useful since Water Splinter does not have a lot of slow cards which means it is not that good in Reverse Speed ruleset. This card could help us in that department. Other stats are pretty decent, Four attack is exactly what you need so you can avoid that annoying Force Shield. The same goes for armor and health, it is quite decent and this guy should be tanky, if not for the first spot then for a second spot in your team.

Well, it starts to be interesting when we talk about abilities. Bloodlust ability is amazing on this guy as it means Sea Wreck will get +1 to all stats when he kills a monster. Now in the Reverse Speed ruleset that is maybe not that desirable as his speed will increase and make Sea Wreck slower and that's not what we want, though +1 to other stats could outweigh the negatives to the speed. In regular rulesets, it means Sea Wreck could be faster, but base 1 speed is a problem as it could easily miss those attacks.

Return Fire is amazing and with Wave Brood, you now have a few monsters that can counter ranged units. Such abilities are really good as you will return part of the damage dealt to your monster. The same comment goes for the Magic Reflect ability. The big health pool is perfect for such abilities which means that Sea Wreck won't die after just a few attacks.

Heal ability will also contribute to the survivability of Sea Wreck, making him even harder to kill. If you want a good tank he either needs to have a melee or magic shield or a big health pool with Heal ability, In this case, we are going for the second option.

Maybe the best ability comes at the end and that is Amplify. This means that damage returned from Return Fire and Magic Reflec abilities will be doubled which makes Sea Wreck quite a threat. So you can see that his only vulnerability is to melee attacks, of course, if you do not want to see your team shred to pieces.

How would I play Sea Wreck?

For now, I see quite a few options. The first one is quite obvious and that is a tank in the Reverse Speed ruleset. You need to take advantage of that 1 speed and that is the perfect situation to do just that.

Maybe the best option could be by playing it with Possibilus the Wise, of course in the second position. All stats that Possibilus is providing can have a huge impact on Sea Wreck. Plus two health will make him even tanker and it will heal even more health each turn, Reach will allow Sea Wreck to attack from the second position which is perfect because Sea Wreck does not have Shield or Void abilities. The third benefit is Trample and maybe the most important. Since Sea Wreck has low seed it means that it will often attack last. It will often attack when opponent monsters are low on health so he could get quite a few kills. That is useful for Bloodlust ability which in combination with Trample can take down your team very quickly. So, with Possibilius the Wise Sea Wreck is quite a threat though competition for the second place is hard because of Coastal Sentry.

Another option for me is to play it with Lily Shieldpaw. Why? Well in that case you can use Sea Wrack as the ultimate tank in the first spot and reflect all that damage back to the enemy. Your backline will be safe because of the Camouflage ability that Lily provides but you will have to play support cards like Merdaali Guardian, River Nymph, and Swamp Spitter. This will allow your Sea Wreck to survive for a long time and to deal maximum damage to your opponent.

So how do you like Sea Wreck? Are you excited to play it? Are you buying Riftwatchers packs to increase the chances of airdrop? What do you think the price of Sea Wreck will be? Let me know down in the comments!
