SPS Staking & Rewards

At the last Town Hall, it was announced that soon we would have to stake SPS in order to earn the same amount of the Rewards Shares and Rewards SPS. If you want to check out the latest Town Hall you can find it on a link below:

There is a lot of taking around the announced requirements about replacing CP(Collection Power) with SPS staking. Some people like the idea, since that was originally planned from the begging of the Splinterlands, as it was written in the whitepaper.

On the other hand, there are people that are talking that this is a big SPS price manipulation as people will have to stake SPS and that will move the price of the SPS up. But is not that something that we all want? I am certain that I don't want that SPS stays at 0.02 USD or even lower. But like everyone else, I feel regret that I didn't accumulate more SPS. Especially when I saw the SPS chart for each league and tier rating.

While you have to buy cards(or rent them) you will also have to stake a certain amount of SPS depending on the League and the Rating. So for example, if you want to play at the top of the Silver league (as my alt Purplebat wants to) you will have to stake 11253 SPS. And that is a lot! In terms of USD that is around 246 USD. But isn't that just a little bit weird since my Silver 1 account is worth 133 USD while the rest of the cards are rented from the market? So it means I would have to invest more in the SPS than I invested into the cards themselves.

My main account which is worth around 3k USD is playing in Champion III. Currently, on that account, I have just a bit over 30k staked SPS, and that is way too little for what I need to get 100% of rewards in Champion III: I am short for more than 200k SPS. That means that for an account that has cards worth 3k, I should invest an additional 5276.936 USD worth of SPS.

But as Aggroed is saying, that is the beauty of the Splinterlands. Just as there is not enough Bitcoin for everyone, there is also not enough SPS for everyone. Well at least not enough so everyone can earn 100% of the rewards. That means we will have to fight for every SPS, for every Reward Chest. Every Tournament will be important so as every game in the league. And that is the beauty of this game.

Yes I know, I am also stressed out that I don't have enough SPS but I will try to get more and maybe I will get to 241K one day, maybe not.

What about new players?

If you are a new player this is certainly something that will affect your decision to play or not to play Splinterlands. From some angles, it is maybe even easier to figure out what you have to do than it was with CP(Collection Power). You don't have to worry about how much CP each card that you rent gives you. You can just rent SPS that you need in order to get max rewards. We still don't know the prices of renting SPS but I am hoping that it won't be that high.

Summary

In the end, it may happen that we will be getting even more rewards than we are getting now. It is impossible to know how the numbers will work until we see these SPS staking changes in action. It was said that the rewards will depend on the amount of SPS that is staked by other players in your league. So if I am staking 30k in Diamond League and everyone else is staking 15k it means I will potentially get more rewards than I am getting now. It is a change that is in the whitepaper and we all knew that it will come one day. Maybe we just were not prepared for it so soon.

Now it is time to win some games and collect that SPS because every single SPS is important!
