Why I voted NO in Anti-Bot proposal?

Currently, there is an active proposal that suggests that we should implement anti-bot measures in the Modern league format. I will explain why I voted NO for this proposal in the article below and more on this proposal you can read here: https://peakd.com/@theukm/create-a-temporary-ranked-mode-with-anti-bot-measures

First, I must be very clear on the question of bots. My opinion is that bots should not be allowed in Splinterlands, or they should be at least regulated to some measure that they are having this much influence on the game and the economy.

Why I voted no? Because this proposal is not thought through. It was created "overnight" as a result of Mav's frustration with the economy and significantly reduced rewards in Diamond and Champion leagues due to serious bot competition in leaderboards.

This proposal is not solving any of the problems that we currently have:

  • Unwanted value(money) extraction from the game with as little investment in the game as possible
  • Unfair advantage of bots over human players

Why are bots important?

We are facing a Bear market in the crypto world. NFTs are not that hot right now, there is no hype, and everything is cold as ice. And that's OK. The economy works in cycles and this downtrend will eventually reverse into an uptrend. It is important that Splinterlands endures these bad times so we can all enjoy SPS at 1 USD and beyond.

At this moment BOTs are playing a crucial part in the Splinterlands, both in the game and economy. Bots are playing games, they are earning SPS, selling cards, renting cards in, and renting cards out. They are keeping this game alive. The creators of this proposal obviously did not think through what would happen if a few large bot farms just leave Splinterlands. What impact would that have on the economy and on the game?

Yes, we should limit bots, but now, at these hard times, it's not a situation to do that. Now, we should think about ways to improve Splinterlands, economy, gameplay, and rewards. How to grow our community and influence in the Crypto AND in the gaming world.

When is the time for bots to go away?
I would say soon-ish. We need land, we need more animations, better gameplay, skins, Battle Pass, we need hype, and more players. We need to make Splinterlands stable, and then, just then when we are sure that anti-bot measures won't kill the game, then those measures should be implemented.

With governance majority of power is in our hands. Please, don't kill this amazing game with astonishing potential. Let me know what you think!

It is the perfect time to buy some cards and rebuild your deck. Packs are not selling as fast as expected so prices are stable. I expect them to go down even more once we sell more packs. But there is always a possibility of new players joining and buying tons of cards, so be careful. If you are not playing #splinterlands yet, now is the perfect opportunity to join while you can get all those amazing cards at special prices. Come and join Splinterlands Discord and find out more.
