BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! || CLOSE RANGE Ruleset

avatar

Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

BROKEN ARROW

"Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles."

CLOSE RANGE is a ruleset that allows the use of Ranged attack monsters in the first position. In general, Ranged attack monsters cannot be used in the first position and can only be used in other than the first position. The CLOSE RANGE Ruleset takes the idea from one of the abilities that have the same name as the Ruleset (CLOSE RANGE ). If the CLOSE RANGE ability (Ranged attack monsters can attack in the first position) can only be used by the ability owner. Then for CLOSE RANGE Ruleset, can be used by all Ranged attack monsters in the battle arena where the Ruleset applies.

In addition to Ranged attack monsters, those that can use the benefits provided by this CLOSE RANGE Ruleset are Dual-Attack type monsters where one of the attack types is Ranged Attack. Such as Runemancer Florre.

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to BROKEN ARROW, the Ruleset in this battle is...

FOG OF WAR

FOG OF WAR is a ruleset that negates the use of the SNIPE , SNEAK , and OPPORTUNITY rulesets. Those 3 abilities cannot be used in the FOG OF WAR ruleset because all attacks can only be aimed at the first position.

Melee attack monsters that sometimes have the SNEAK or OPPORTUNITY abilities cannot attack in the FOG OF WAR ruleset if they are placed other than in the first position.

RISE OF THE COMMONS

RISE OF THE COMMONS is a Ruleset that only allows the use of monster cards that have a COMMON and RARE rarity. This restriction only applies to monster cards, while Summoners can still use any rarity (including EPIC and LEGENDARY).

There is no specific way to deal with the RISE OF THE COMMONS ruleset. It all depends on what other Rulesets come with it as well as the number of Manacles and Elements that can be used.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give an additional 1 ATTACK POWER to All Allies Ranged MonstersSince the only element that can be used is LIFE ELEMENT, the only Summoner choices available are General Sloan, Ilthain, and Grandmaster Rathe* (as well as Franz Ruffmane if you have one). Then I decided to choose General Sloan which can strengthen the attacks of my Ranged attack monsters.

I chose General Sloan because LIFE ELEMENT has more Ranged attack monsters than Magic Attack monsters. Although there is another option, Ilthain, because the rental price is very expensive, the possibility of the opponent using it is also quite small.
SHIELD + GIANT KILLERSince I thought the opponent would use the same Summoner (General Sloan), I decided to choose Chaos Knight as TANK. He has the SHIELD ability that can reduce the impact of Melee and Ranged attack monsters.
REACH + REFLECTION SHIELD + CLEANSEAlthough I previously said that melee attack monsters cannot attack other than in the first position if they are in the FOG OF WAR Ruleset, there is an exception for Melee attack monsters that have the REACH ability. The REACH ability is not included in the list of banned abilities in the FOG OF WAR ruleset so we are free to use it as long as the monster with the ability is on the second position.

And since I have Corsair Bosun which is a monster that has the REACH ability, then I use it. Another reason is because Corsair Bosun has high ATTACK POWER.
SLOW + RUSTTime Mage is the only Magic attack monster I use in this battle because it has the RUST ability that can remove 2 ARMOR from all opponent monsters. That's perfect for dealing with Grandmaster Rathe (if the opponent uses that Summoner) because Grandmaster Rathe only adds 1 ARMOR. If the monsters originally had no ARMOR at all, then with the RUST ability, the additional 1 ARMOR means nothing.

In addition, Time Mage also has the SLOW ability which slows down the opponent's attack turn so that I have the opportunity to attack (and defeat the opponent's monsters) first.
FLYING + SHATTERIf RUST ability is not enough to remove ARMOR from opponent monsters that have a large amount of ARMOR, there is still War Pegasus which has SHATTER ability. SHATTER ability can eliminate all of your opponent's ARMOR at once even if they have a large amount of ARMOR.
SWIFTNESSIn addition to using the SLOW ability, I also use Supply Runner which has the SWIFTNESS ability to widen the distance of the speed difference of our monsters so that my monsters can attack and even defeat the opponent's monsters before they get their turn to attack.
DOUBLE STRIKE + FLYINGAlthough it has a fairly standard ATTACK POWER, with the DOUBLE STRIKE ability and the addition of General Sloan, the attack of Pelacor Arbalest can directly crush the opponent's monster if the 2 attacks from him do not miss.

BATTLE START !!!

The opponent used Grandmaster Rathe as his Summoner. But his efforts were in vain because of the Time Mage who had the RUST ability.

Not only did I inflict de-buff, but the opponent also brought monsters that inflicted de-buff on me. Anachron Bolter who has the HEADWINDS ability thwarted the additional attack power given by General Sloan.

image.png

In the first round, Time Mage attacked Drybone Barbarian and put him in Rage mode. Despite being able to attack Chaos Knight in that mode, Drybone Barbarian fell to attacks from Supply Runner, War Pegasus, and Pelacor Arbalest*. The first-place Gargoya Devil also received attacks from Corsair Bosun while Chaos Knight's attacks failed to hit him.

On the opposing side, the attacks from Gargoya Devil, War Pegasus, Anachron Bolter, and Venari Crystalsmith have not been able to defeat Chaos Knight.

image.png

In the second round, Supply Runner failed to land its attack on Gargoya Devil while the attacks from Time Mage and War Pegasus* could defeat it. The opponent's War Pegasus also managed to defeat Chaos Knight.

Pelacor Arbaest and Corsair Bosun successfully defeated the opponent's War Pegasus. Meanwhile, the remaining opponent's monsters (Anachron Bolter and Venari Crystalsmith) could only reduce the Health points of Corsair Bosun slightly.

image.png

In the last round, the attacks from Time Mage, Supply Runner, and War Pegasus managed to kill Anachron Bolter so that the de-buff of 1 ATTACK POWER reduction for my monster's ranged attack also disappeared. This was taken advantage of by Pelacor Arbalest to immediately defeat Venari Crystalsmith. The last attack was done by Corsair Bosun who defeated Stitch Leech.

Review of this battle

The victory this time was obtained due to my opponent's mistakes as well as my luck. His first mistake was using Grandmaster Rathe which obviously can still be countered by using Time Mage's RUST ability. His second mistake was using Stitch Leech which is a melee monster that has the SNEAK ability. Even though in the FOG OF WAR Ruleset, SNEAK ability is one of the abilities that cannot be used.

My luck this time was because I managed to defeat the opponent's monsters before they were healed by Venari Crystalsmith. It happened because I used Time Mage and Supply Runner* which made enough difference in SPEED that I was able to defeat the opponent's monsters before they were healed.
