Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

image.png

"Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles"

This ruleset prohibits us from using Melee monsters and is only allowed to use Ranged, Magic, and No Attack Monsters. Dual-attack type monsters that have Melee attack as one of their attack type are also included in the exception.

CAN
CAN'T

The cards above are examples of Dual-attack type monsters that can and cannot be used in the KEEP YOUR DISTANCE ruleset. Drybone Raider has Melee attack in one of its Dual-Attack Type while Runemancer Florre does not. It only has Ranged and Magic as its attack types, both of which can still be used in the KEEP YOUR DISTANCE ruleset.

Quora Towershead which is a Gladius card is another example of a Dual-Attack Type monster that cannot be used in this Ruleset.

Monsters that fill the first position in this Ruleset (instead of Melee monsters) should have one of the following characteristics:

  • High Health Points

  • Has the Ability to reduce the impact of attacks (VOID when facing Magic attacks, SHIELD when facing Ranged attacks)

  • Has the Ability to return attacks (MAGIC REFLECT for Magic Attack, RETURN FIRE for Ranged Attack)

  • Has HEAL ability (or can be supported with monsters that have TANK HEAL)

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to KEEP YOUR DISTANCE, the ruleset for this battle is...

Explosive Weaponry

image.png

This ruleset provides an additional ability in the form of BLAST to all monsters in the battle arena. BLAST itself is an ability that can have an impact on monsters around the target of the attack (if it successfully hits the target). If the target is in the first position, the impact will only hit the monsters in the second row. But if the target is in a position other than the first position, the impact will hit the monsters in the position before and after the target.

Monsters with SCATTERSHOT, SNIPE, and OPPORTUNITY abilities benefit greatly from this Ruleset because their attack targets are not always in the first position. However, monsters with OPPORTUNITY ability are more often owned by Melee monsters (except Lira the Dark and Countess Sinash). So the best options when in this Ruleset and KEEP YOUR DISTANCE ruleset are monsters that have SNIPE or SCATTERSHOT.

UNPROTECTED

This Ruleset eliminates ARMOR, so monsters with high Attack Power (Melee and Ranged) are greatly benefited because their attacks will not be hindered by 1 or 2 ARMOR. When dealing with this Ruleset, monsters with high Health points that have the ability to reduce the impact of attacks (VOID / SHIELD) and HEAL abilities (or assisted by monsters that have TANK HEAL abilities) are needed in order to survive longer.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give additional 1 Attack Point to All Allies Ranged MonsterI decided to use General Sloan because there was a Ranged Monster that had the TANK HEAL ability. I wanted to help him as much as possible by adding his Attack power using General Sloan.
FLYING + MAGIC REFLECTI used Pelacor Conjurer which is a No Attack monster because it fits some of the characteristics I mentioned above.

1) It has quite a lot of Health points (at least it takes 2~4 attacks to defeat it if without the help of TANK HEAL)

2) Has the Ability to reverse attacks (MAGIC REFLECT)

3) Has FLYING which is one of the abilities used when you want to reduce the accuracy of Melee and Ranged attacks.
MARTYRI choose to use Venari Marksrat and place it behind Pelacor Conjurer because I utilize one of the Rulesets (Explosive Weaponry). And if Venari Marksrat is defeated first, it will give additional STATS to the monsters in the position before and after it.

Also if the opponent has SNIPE monsters, Venari Marksrat will be faster to defeat (However, the monsters in the next position will be affected by the effects of the EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY Ruleset).
TANK HEALVenari Crystalsmith is there to support Pelacor Conjurer so that it can survive for a long time. I put her after Venari Marksrat so that she gets extra STATS when Venari Marksrat loses first

Another reason I put her last is that in KEEP YOUR DISTANCE there are rarely monsters with SNEAK abilities.

BATTLE START !!!

As you can see, my opponent is using Waka Spiritblade as his summoner. He also used that summoner in some previous matches. This summoner gives an additional POISON ability, so every time an attack from them successfully hits my monster there is a possibility of giving POISON as well.

In the first position, the opponent used Riftwing (No Attack monster) which already had the HEADWINDS ability (subtracts 1 Attack point from Ranged monsters). This made the addition of General Sloan useless.

image.png

In the first round, both my opponent and I only managed to land 1 attack. Venari Bonesmith's attack successfully hit Pelacor Conjurer (BLAST effect hit Venari Marksrat), but the attack was returned by Pelacor Conjurer using MAGIC REFLECT. Venari Marksrat's attack successfully hit RIFTWING (BLAST effect hit Venari Bonesmith).

The attack of Xenith Archer failed to hit Pelacor Conjurer and the attack of Venari Crystalsmith failed to hurt Riftwing. Their attacks both failed because of FLYING. However, what separates them is that Venari Crystalsmith was affected by Riftwing's BACKFIRE (as a result of her missed attack).

image.png

In the second round, now the attacks from 2 Ranged monsters (Venari Crystalsmith and Xenith Archer) did not miss. This makes Venari Marksrat fall (hit by BLAST twice) and gives my remaining monsters (Pelacor Conjurer and Venari Crystalsmith) additional STATS.

image.png

image.png

In the third round, only the attack of Xenith Archer failed while the attack of Venari Crystalsmith successfully hit Riftwing. This was due to the increased STATS of my 2 monsters.

image.png

In the fourth round, Riftwing and Venari Bonesmith* were defeated. This left Xenith Archer unable to do anything (as he was now in first place).

Review of this battle

source: splintertools.io

As you can see, the chance of me winning this battle is 0%. That's because my opponent this time is using Waka Spiritblade and RIFTWING which have BACKFIRE (which will deal damage if it fails to hit). But my luck seemed to be all spent in this match. 5 attacks in 4 rounds (Xenith Archer missed 3 times) none of them gave POISON effect to Pelacor Conjurer, so he could still be healed by Venari Crystalsmith.

That was the post BATTLE MAGE SECRETS for this time. Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read. See you in the next post....
