Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

LOST LEGENDARIES

"Legendary monsters may not be used in battles"

As mentioned, LOST LEGENDARIES only prohibits us from using Legendary monsters. Meanwhile, Legendary Summoners are still allowed. So if we need abilities from Legendary Summoner (which we might not be able to get from Summoners or monsters other than Legendary) we can still use them in this Ruleset.

Although it is forbidden to use Legendary monsters, other monsters also have quite useful abilities especially if you fight in higher leagues such as the GOLD LEAGUE and the leagues above.

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to LOST LEGENDARIES, the ruleset for this battle is...

MELEE MAYHEM

image.png

In this Ruleset, Melee monsters can be used in any position. Melee monsters with high Attack points are quite advantageous as long as the opponent's chosen monster does not have ARMOR or does not get additional ARMOR from Summoner or other monsters. However, if the opponent's monster has ARMOR, then Melee monsters that have PIERCING ability can be relied on in the battle. An example of a Melee monster that has PIERCING is Desert Dragon.

Desert dragon mendapatkan PIERCING ability ketika berada di level 2 (Silver League)

Dual-Attack Type monsters that have Melee attack as one of their attack types can also be utilized in this Ruleset. An example of a Dual-Attack Type monster is Drybone Raider (Legendary card from the Soulbound Reward card that you can get in the Daily chest or Season Chest).

ODD ONES OUT

In this ruleset, we can only use Monsters with odd number Mana (1, 3, 5, 7, and so on). There are no special tricks when in this ruleset. We must be smart in choosing which monsters with odd Mana we should bring into the battle arena. Melee, Ranged, and Magic monsters with odd Mana also have their own specialties.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give an additional 1 SPEED and ARMOR to All AlliesI chose Kelya Frendul because in WATER SPLINTER there are several monsters that I need for this Ruleset. The additional 1 ARMOR is also needed for monsters that don't have ARMOR at all so that when hit by a big attack from the opponent's Melee or Ranged monster, the attack will only damage the 1 ARMOR.
NONESince we are in the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset, there is a possibility that the opponent brings many Melee monsters with large numbers. Therefore, I need monsters with a large amount of ARMOR to withstand the attacks from the opponent's Melee monsters.
NONENerissa Tridawn is a Magic monster from WATER SPLINTER that I really need in this battle. Although it has a high number of Attack Points and Health, Nerissa Tridawn is still at the Epic Card level.

I need its high Attack power in order to defeat opponents faster (because the monster's Magic attack directly hits Health even though the monster has ARMOR. But it's a different story if the monster has VOID ARMOR ability).
SNEAK + POISONWhile the 2 monsters in front of him (Cruel Sethropod and Nerissa Tridawn focus their attacks on the first-positioned opponent's monster, I need Uraeus (which is a SNEAK monster) to weaken (or even defeat) the last-positioned opponent's monster.

With the additional POISON ability he gets when he is level 4, it will speed up the defeat of the opponent's monster by giving them POISON (if successful) every time Uraeus attacks that monster.
NONEThere are actually 2 choices of monsters with 1 point Mana, between Hardy Stonefish or Chaos Agent*. But I decided to choose Hardy Stonefish and put it in the back position because it has Attack power and ARMOR even though each of them amounts to 1 POINT (unlike Chaos Agent which has neither ATTACK POWER nor ARMOR)

And with the MELEE MAYHEM Ruleset, Hardy Stonefish can still attack even though it doesn't have any abilities.

BATTLE START !!!

image.png

My opponent this time used Possibilus the Wise as a Summoner (Although Melee monsters can surrender from anywhere without the help of REACH, it seems that the opponent chose that summoner because he needed the TRAMPLE ability that can immediately attack the next monster after defeating the monster in front of him). He focuses too much on Melee monsters (even though there are Ranged and Magic monsters that have Odd Mana).

The opponent even brought Disintegrator which has the DEMORALIZE ability (an ability that reduces 1 Attack point of the opponent's Melee monster).

image.png

In the first round, almost all of the opponent's monsters (Tide Biter, Cruel Sethropod, and Disintegrator) successfully attacked the first-placed Cruel Sethropod (although it only damaged its ARMOR), while the opponent's Hardy Stonefish failed to land its attack.

The Attack point reduction (DEMORALIZE) done by the opponent didn't really affect me who didn't only rely on attacks from Melee monsters. The attack from Nerissa Tridawn managed to reduce more than half of Cruel Sethropod's Health (if there was no additional Health from Possibilus the Wise, maybe now his Health is only 1 point left).

Uraeus's attack on Tide Biter who was in the last position successfully caused a POISON effect so that he would take 2 points of damage each round.

image.png

In Round 2, again the Hardy Stonefish attack failed to hit the Cruel Sethropod so he could still survive this round with only 1 Health point left. Meanwhile, Nerissa Tridawn managed to defeat the opponent's Cruel Sethropod.

image.png

Tide Biter lost early in the third round due to POISON effects (in round 2 he also received POISON effects), while Hardy Stonefish was defeated by Nerissa Tridawn.

Review of this battle

For this battle, I felt relieved because the opponent was too focused on one ruleset (Melee Mayhem) so he focused his attacks only using Melee Attack. But on the other hand, I was less satisfied because the opponent I faced had a formation that was equivalent to the Silver League in terms of card level (despite being in the Gold League).

Regardless, I am very happy to be able to share my win in this Ruleset. Since it was originally announced that the theme for this week was the LOST LEGENDARIES Ruleset, it was only now that I was able to win in this Ruleset.
