Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

NOXIOUS FUMES

image.png

"All monsters start the battle poisoned"

In this Ruleset, all monsters on both sides will be hit by POISON from the start before the match starts. The POISON they receive from this Ruleset is the same as the POISON given by monsters with the same abilities, so the way to deal with it is the same, by using CLEANSE (for monsters in the first position) or letting them die and using RESURRECT to revive them and remove POISON or by bringing monster with IMMUNITY ability to avoid the POISON given by this Ruleset.

Monsters with HEAL abilities can also be used in this Ruleset as long as :

  • They have no less than 9 points of Health (after getting de-buffed when the battle starts)

  • Not hit by attacks from opposing monsters (not targeted by monster attacks with abilities such as SNIPE, SNEAK, SCATTERSHOT)

One of the monsters with HEAL ability that can be used in the NOXIOUS FUMES ruleset

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to NOXIOUS FUMES, the ruleset for this battle is...

STAMPEDE

image.png

STAMPEDE Ruleset is a ruleset that gives "specialty" to the TRAMPLE Ability. The TRAMPLE ability itself is an ability that allows a monster to immediately attack the next "target" after defeating the previous "target" (this ability will not work when the "previous target" is a monster in the back position).

In the STAMPEDE Ruleset, the TRAMPLE ability can be used continuously as long as the "next target" can be defeated in one attack. This means that when the first target is defeated, he will immediately attack the second "target" using the TRAMPLE Ability. And if the second "target" is immediately defeated, he will use the TRAMPLE ability again to attack the third target. This repetition process will only stop when the "target" can still survive the monster's attack or when the monster defeats the "target" in the last position.

COUNTERSPELL

image.png

COUNTERSPELL Ruleset is a Ruleset that grants an additional ability in the form of MAGIC REFLECT to all monsters in the battle arena (the same as OWSTER ROTWELL, but this ability is received by monsters on both sides). The MAGIC REFLECT ability is an ability that allows a target attacked by a Magic monster to "return" half of the attack to the Magic monster that attacked it.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give an additional 1 ARMOR + VOID ARMOR, and AMPLIFY ability to All AlliesI used Grandmaster Rathe because I needed his ability to provide an additional AMPLIFY ability. This ability is very useful for "boosting" the effects of abilities such as THORN, MAGIC REFLECT, and RETURN FIRE.

Another reason is in case the opponent still wants to use Magic monsters despite the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset.
FLYING + RECHARGE + HEALI chose Uriel the Purifier to fill the first position because he is a monster that has HEAL ability and has a large amount of HEALTH. The HEAL ability is very necessary for monsters that serve as TANKs so that they can survive longer.

Uriel the Purifier also has the FLYING ability which gives him the possibility of avoiding attacks launched by opposing Melee or Ranged monsters that do not have similar abilities.
REACH + REFLECTION SHIELD + CLEANSECorsair Bosun gets a very useful ability in NOXIUS FUMES (when he is level 5). I put it behind Uriel the Purifier because it has a REACH ability that allows it (which is a Melee monster) to attack behind the TANK.

CLEANSE Ability that Corsair Bosun has will be very helpful to remove POISON from Uriel the Purifier so that he can focus on healing HEALTH from the opponent's Monsters' attacks only (without worrying about reducing HEALTH due to POISON).
MARTYRVenari Marksrat will not be healed using CLEANSE when it gets POISON from NOXIUS FUMES Ruleset because its position is not as a TANK. The only way to heal it is by using RESURRECT (letting it die first). And when he loses, the MARTYR Ability will give additional STATS to the monsters nearby (in this case, the monsters after and before him).
FLYING + REPAIR + RESURRECT + IMMUNITYAdelaide Brightwing is indeed a Magic monster and is not recommended to be used in the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset, but I still need her because she has some abilities that are quite crucial.

REPAIR ability can be used to repair some of the lost ARMOR of one of the monsters so that the monster does not immediately reduce its HEALTH when attacked by Melee or Ranged monsters (or also Magic monsters if the ARMOR becomes VOID ARMOR).
IMMUNITY + THORNI put Evelyn Auvera at the very end so that she can "defeat" the opponent's SNEAK monster (if they bring it) by relying solely on her THORN ability. And with the addition of the AMPLIFY she received from Grandmaster Rathe, it will give an additional effect to THORN (from the original 2 points of damage to 3 points of damage).

BATTLE START !!!

image.png

The opponent used Conqueror Jacek which gave an additional 2 SPEED and PIERCING Ability to the opponent's monsters. The opponent also brought 2 monsters with SLOW abilities (Venator Kinjo and Scavo Chemist) which made the opponent's SPEED difference 4 points superior to mine and it reduced the success rate of my monsters' Melee and Ranged attacks.

image.png

As an effect of the difference in SPEED, in the first round, the attacks of Corsair Bosun failed to hit Magnor. But strangely, the attack from Venari Marksrat which had the same SPEED as Corsair Bosun could hit Magnor who was in RAGE mode (After receiving an attack from Adelade Brightwing).

On the opponent's side, the attacks from Magnor and Ferexian Hero successfully hit Uriel the Purifier. However, Tenyii Striker even though he successfully attacked Evelyn Auvera, he took 3 points of damage due to THORN.

image.png

In the second round, Corsair Bosun's attack this time successfully hit Magnor, but Uriel the Purifier's attack (which had been strengthened with the RECHARGE ability) failed to hit him.

Although he managed to avoid Uriel the Purifier's attacks, Magnor's attacks in this round also failed to hit Uriel the Purifier despite his SPEED advantage. The reason is none other than Uriel the Purifier has a FLYING ability that "allows" him to dodge Melee or Ranged monster attacks.

image.png

In the third round, Venari Marksrat died due to POISON (and gave additional abilities to Corsair Bosun and Adelade Brightwing). However, he was revived by Adelade Brightwing using RESURRECT.

In this round, the attacks of Corsair Bosun and Venari Marksrat failed to hit Magnor. Only the attacks from Adelade Brightwing managed to hit him.

image.png

In the fourth round, Magnor's attack managed to hit Uriel the Purifier, but not Ferexian Hero. Magnor was defeated by Corsair Bosun, while Ferexian Hero was defeated by Adelade Brightwing.

Review of this battle

After seeing this battle, I learned that excelling in SPEED cannot make you 100% victorious in battle (but the possibility of winning is very high). Other abilities that can support the advantage in SPEED are needed, such as FLYING, DODGE, PHASE (to avoid Magic Attack), as well as help from BLIND.

In this battle, I was also a little careless because I gambled on using Venari Marksrat just to get extra STATS instead of using Venator Kinjo which in addition to having IMMUNITY ability, also has SLOW ability which (maybe) will be useful to increase the accuracy of successful attacks on the opponent's monsters.
