Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

WANDS OUT

"Only Monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles."

WANDS OUT is a ruleset that only allows us to use Magic monsters (or Dual-Attack type monsters where one of the Attack types is Magic Attack). To deal with this Ruleset looks quite easy because we only need to choose and use Summoners or abilities that can increase or weaken the attacks of Magic monsters.

For Summoners who can "help" magic monsters, there are at least 13 Summoners. And most of them can be used in any League (WILD or MODERN League).

From the Summoner list above, only FIRE SPLINTER has yet to get a Summoner designated for Magic monsters. In Modern League, DRAGON, WATER, and LIFE SPLINTER only have 1 Magic Summoner (Grandmaster Rathe, Bortus and Sthispa). EARTH SPLINTER has 2 options (Obsidian and Immortalis), and DEATH SPLINTER has 3 options (Owster Rotwell, Mimosa Nightshade and Thaddius Brood).

If you are in low Mana (less than 25 Manacap) it is recommended to use a Summoner with Mana points 3 ~ 4 so that you can use a lot of Magic monsters (Unless you have another Strategy).

To survive in this Ruleset, you need a TANK with high Health and VOID abilities (if you don't have any, you can use the help of Mimosa Nightshade or Immortalis).

Doctor Blight is also included in magic monsters and he has abilities that are quite difficult if we are not vigilant. POISON and AFFLICTION abilities are abilities that are enough to make TANK or monsters with high Health unable to move until the effect is removed using CLEANSE ability. Prepare monsters with CLEANSE or IMMUNITY ability or also bring your Doctor Blight to the battle arena (if you have it) when in your opponent's last 5 battles, he often uses it.

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to WANDS OUT, the ruleset for this battle is...

UNPROTECTED

In the UNPROTECTED Ruleset, all monsters lose their ARMOR, and ARMOR additions from both Summoner and PROTECT abilities are removed. This ruleset is actually quite useful for monsters with high ATTACK POWER (especially Melee and Ranged monsters) because they can directly attack the opponent's HEALTH point without having to think about how to remove ARMOR from the opponent's monsters that often block their attacks (Their attacks will hit ARMOR first if the target has ARMOR).

UNPROTECTED Ruleset with only Magic monsters available does not have a big impact. Because from the start the attack from the Magic monster can directly penetrate into the Health of the opponent's monster. However, this will be different if the opposing monster has ARMOR and VOID ARMOR abilities (or gets help from Grandmaster Rathe).

VOID ARMOR ability is an ability that makes attacks from Magic monsters that cannot directly hit the Health points of the opponent and must destroy the ARMOR first.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give an additional 1 Attack point to All Allies Magic monstersI chose Obsidian in this battle because the amount of Mana available was not so much, so I decided to use it in order to bring many monsters to the battle arena.

Another reason I chose Obsidian is because in the GOLD League there is already 1 monster from EARTH SPLINTER that has the SILENCE ability (an ability that reduces 1 ATTACK POINT of the opponent's Magic monster).
FLYINGAlthough Regal Peryton does not have VOID abilities, but at least he has a large HEALTH. Regal Peryton also has high SPEED which allows him to attack first.
TANK HEAL + AFFLICTION + SILENCEGoblin Pscyhic is the monster I mentioned earlier. In the GOLD League, it gets an additional SILENCE ability to weaken the attack of the opponent's Magic monster. In addition, it also has a TANK HEAL ability that can heal Regal Peryton when he loses some Health points after being attacked. AFFLICTION ability itself is useful for targets (if the effect activates successfully) that cannot be healed by healing abilities (HEAL, TANK HEAL, TRIAGE).
TRIAGE + DISPEL + BLINDI brought Spirit Hoarder into this battle so that he could help heal monsters other than TANK that were attacked by monsters with abilities like SNIPE, SNEAK, OPPORTUNITY, or SCATTER SHOT.
TAUNT + FORCEFIELDAlthough there is Regal Peryton as a TANK that has high Health points, there is still Mycelic Slipspawn whose Health points are higher than Regal Peryton. Mycelic Slipspawn also has a TAUNT ability that makes attacks from all opposing monsters (except TANK) aim at him so that Regal Peryton can survive longer.

Mycelic Slipspawn is assisted by Spirit Hoarder to heal some of his Health points.

BATTLE START !!!

All my monsters actually get an additional 1 attack point but this is removed by Thaddius Brood which reduces the Attack points of all my magic monsters (+1 -1= 0). All of my monsters also received a 1 Health point reduction from Thaddius Brood.

Meanwhile, the opponent only gets attack point reduction from the SILENCE ability of Goblin Psychic and BLIND from Spirit Hoarder (which is actually less useful because there is no PHASE ability if the attack comes from a Magic monster).

The Magic of Chaos was defeated thanks to the attacks of all my monsters.

Meanwhile, on the opponent's side, the attack directed at Mycelic Slipspawn was not enough to be able to defeat it immediately (Spirit Hoarder healed it immediately). In this round, Venari Bonesmith who has the POISON ability failed to activate the POISON effect on Mycelic Slipspawn.

image.png

In the second round, Venari Bonesmith could not be defeated because Mycelic Slipspawn did not help the offense as he was hit by a STUN from Revealer who attacked him in the previous round.

image.png

In the third round, Venari Bonesmith and Life Sapper were defeated. This time Mycelic Slipspawn could help the offense because the attack from Revealer in the second round did not cause a STUN effect.

Review of this battle

I won this battle because my opponent's attack didn't focus on just one target. That allowed my 2 healing monsters (Goblin Psychic and Spirit Hoarder) to help the monsters that were targeted by my opponent's attacks. Another reason for my victory this time was because the POISON from Venari Bonesmith didn't hit my 2 monsters (Mycelic Slipspawn and Regal Peryton).

If only there was no UNPROTECTED Ruleset, maybe I would have thought of using DEATH SPLINTER and making Djinn Muirat a TANK because he has VOID ARMOR and in the GOLD League, he gets the addition of the MAGIC REFLECT ability which reverses some of the attacks from the opponent's Magic monsters.
