Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

TARGET PRACTICE

"All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability."

TARGET PRACTICE is one of the rulesets that will give additional abilities to monsters in the battle arena. The ability given in the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset is SNIPE. SNIPE itself is an ability that is specialized for Ranged and Magic monsters and is used to attack Ranged, Magic, or No-Attack monsters that are not in the first position.

The easiest way to win battles in the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset is to use the BLAST ability. BLAST ability is an ability that will deal damage to monsters that are near the target. If monsters with BLAST ability get an additional SNIPE ability, they can deal damage to 3 monsters at once (1 target and 2 monsters nearby).

or you can use Yodin Zaku (which will grant BLAST ability to all monster Allies) if you are in the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset.

Another way that can be used while in the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset is to utilize monsters with MARTYR abilities. Most MARTYR monsters are non-Melee monsters (except Vruz). If placed between 2 Melee monsters, the monster with the MARTYR ability will be targeted and defeated by the opponent's monster with the SNIPE ability. Therefore, those 2 Melee monsters will receive an additional 1 point in all stats.

Apart from the 2 methods above, there is still an alternative method that can be used in the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset. That way is to only bring Melee monsters to the battle arena (without bringing Ranged, magic, and no-attack monsters). This way, players don't have to worry if the opponent brings monsters with BLAST abilities. Since there are no Ranged, Magic, or No-Attack monsters, the opponent will target the monster in the first position (TANK).

A TANK that is suitable for the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset is recommended to have SHIELD and VOID abilities so that the TANK can withstand attacks from MAGIC monsters as well. One of the monsters that has 2 abilities is Chain Golem.

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to TARGET PRACTICE, the Ruleset in this battle is...

MELEE MAYHEM

MELEE MAYHEM is a ruleset that allows Melee monsters to attack from any position even though they don't have abilities like SNEAK, REACH, or OPPORTUNITY. But unlike SNEAK and OPPORTUNITY, the target of Melee monsters' attacks in MELEE MAYHEM Ruleset is the monster in the first position (TANK).

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Give a reduction of 2 ARMOR to All Enemies

- Give an additional ability (DODGE) to All Allies

-Revive 1 defeated Ally
I chose Astral Entity because I want to use its RESURRECT ability to revive the MARTYR monsters that will be targeted in the TARGET PRACTICE ruleset.

In addition, Astral Entity also grants DODGE ability to all my monsters. The DODGE ability will increase the chance for my monsters to avoid the opponent's Melee or Ranged monsters.
FLYINGI use Pelacor Deceiver because it has FLYING ability and high SPEED. As long as the opponent doesn't have the same ability (FLYING) then Pelacor Deceiver has a chance to dodge the opponent's Melee and Ranged monster attacks.
MARTYRVenari Marksrat is again my go-to when I want to use MARTYR monsters. With the TARGET PRACTICE Ruleset, Venari Marksrat will become the target of attacks from your opponent's non-Melee (Ranged and Magic) monsters. And if added with the RESURRECT ability of Astral Entity, it is likely that Venari Marksrat will be defeated twice. And that will make the Melee monsters nearby receive an additional 2 points of stats.
FLYINGDue to the limitation in the amount of Mana available in the battle this time, I only had 1 Mana point left that could be used after selecting the Summoner and several monsters. Finally, I decided to choose Carrion Shade over other monsters that also had 1 Mana point because it had the FLYING ability which might be useful when facing opposing monsters that didn't have the same ability.

BATTLE START !!!

The opponent uses Kelya Frendul which grants an additional 1 ARMOR and 1 SPEED to all opponent's monsters. The additional ARMOR is removed by the de-buff of Astral Entity which reduces your opponent's ARMOR by 2.

The opposing side brought 2 Ranged monsters while there was only 1 Ranged monster on my side (Venari Marksrat)

image.png

In the first round, my 2 Melee monsters (Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade) managed to eliminate all ARMOR on Cruel Sethropod with their attacks.

On the opponent's side, there were only 3 Melee monsters (Cruel Sethropod, Hardy Stonefish, and Torrent Fiend) that successfully attacked Pelacor Deceiver. Meanwhile, the attack from the remaining 1 Melee monster (Tide Biter) failed to hit Pelacor Deceiver (even though the SPEED of Tide Biter is superior to the opponent's other 3 Melee monsters).

Ranged monsters from both sides managed to deal damage to their respective targets. Igor Darkspear and Xenith Archer successfully attacked Venari Marksrat. Venari Marksrat successfully attacked Igor Darkspear.

image.png

In the second round, Tide Biter again failed to land his attack on Pelacor Deceiver. Meanwhile, Igor Darkspear managed to defeat Venari Marksrat (but was revived thanks to Astral Entity's RESURRECT ability).

The MARTYR effect of defeating Venari Marksrat gave an additional 1-point stats bonus to Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade. After they received the additional stats, Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade successfully defeated Cruel Sethropod.

2 opposing monsters failed to hit their respective targets. Xenith Archer failed to hit Venari Marksrat and Torrent Fiend failed to hit Pelacor Deceiver. Meanwhile, Hardy Stonefish successfully attacked Pelacor Deceiver.

image.png

In the third round, Tide Biter's attack finally hit Pelacor Deceiver. And Igor Darkspear defeated Venari Marksrat again (Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade received an additional 1 point in all their stats again).

Tide Biter was successfully defeated by Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade. And the opposing monsters that haven't had a turn to attack this round (Xenith Archer, Torrent Fiend, and Hardy Stonefish) failed to deal damage to Pelacor Deceiver.

image.png

In the fourth round, Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade managed to defeat their respective targets (Hardy Stonefish and Torrent Fiend). And that left Igor Darkspear unable to attack because he was in the first place. Only Xenith Archer could attack and he successfully landed his attack on Pelacor Deceiver.

In the final round, Pelacor Deceiver and Carrion Shade again managed to defeat their respective targets (Igor Darkspear and Xenith Archer).

Review of this battle

Luckily, this time the opponent didn't use any Magic monsters (even though he could have used them). He also didn't use Pelacor Bandit which is a Melee monster that has SNEAK ability. If he had used Pelacor Bandit, it is likely that Carrion Shade would have been revived by Astral Entity and not Venari Marksrat (as happened in this battle).

There is also a possibility that if the opponent uses Pelacor Bandit I will lose this battle because Pelacor Bandit also has FLYING ability. But because the opponent doesn't use FLYING monsters and all of my monsters that have FLYING ability get an additional ability in the form of DODGE from Astral Entity, the possibility for the opponent to win is very small.

+
(It's easier to dodge attacks from Melee and Ranged monsters that don't have the FLYING ability.)
