I just realized that SPITE will only trigger if she is defeated by Melee units. So as long as she is defeated by Range or Magic units, it will not trigger SPITE (just like RETALIATE). SPITE will also be useless if the Melee unit that defeated her has a FORCEFIELD ability (ex: NIGHT GHOUL).

The retaliate from Heloise can be nullified in many ways. The easiest I found was just using a lot of armor. Forcefield also works but its hard to find good forcefield units that can kill Heloise.
That being said keep in mind Spite unlike retaliate does trigger with magic and ranged attacks.
Its a good card, but not unbeatable and the owner has to use it wisely.
