SHARE YOUR BATTLE ! WEEKLY CHALLENGE || Death "Anti-Magic" : Reflect

hi, everyone. Welcome to my first post of 2022. As promised in the previous "Share Your Battle", this time I will discuss about my battle using Owster Rotwell.

image.png

And for the Ruleset this time it is NOXIOUS FUMES and EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY with 48 mana. NOXIOUS FUMES is a situation where All Monsters start the battle Poisoned. EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY is a situation where All Monsters have the Blast ability.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
Give Reflect to All AlliesEnemies are more likely to use earth-type monsters when viewed from the Ruleset to be used (Explosive Weaponry) and the choice of elements that can be used
Void (Lv1)Most Magic attack-based monsters will attack the Monster in the first position, therefore I use this Monster to minimize the impact of magic attacks from the opponent's Monster
Thorn (Lv1)In this battle, I use Cursed Windeku only as a second TANKER as well as receiving damage from the EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY Ruleset effect
Sneak (Lv1)Attack the Monster who is in last position
Sneak (Lv1)Attack the Monster who is in last position. And help Silent Sha-vi defeat the opposing Monsters as fast as possible when they have a high enough Health
Scavenger (Lv1)One of the abilities that are suitable for use when dealing with Ruleset NOXIOUS FUMES. Where most monsters will die from the Poison created from this Ruleset
True Strike (Lv1)The monster with the highest attack I have in the Death element other than Bone Golem

BATTLE START !!!

image.png

The enemy used Obsidian (+1 Magic Attack to All Allies) as a Summoner, and I had expected that. There are only 3 enemy monsters based on magic attacks (half of all enemy monsters). After all abilities are applied.....

image.png

Obsidian's ability only affects 3 Monsters based on Magic attacks, while Owster Rotwell grants the REFLECT ability to all Monsters on my side. There are no additional abilities of the Monsters (both from my side and the enemy) that affect the course of the fight before it starts.

image.png

Huh? Where are all the enemy's Magic Attack based Monsters? If you want to know more details, you can see it at FULL BATTLE LINK.

But I will explain briefly. First, this is thanks to the REFLECT that all Monsters have on my side and also the BLAST effect of the EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY Ruleset, Second, the enemy's error in placing one of his Monsters (I'll explain it in the Strategy section).

On my side, I had to lose Bone Golem which had to take 5 of 6 of the opponent's Monster attacks (1 attack was directed at Riftwing, which caused Dhampir Stalker and Sand Worm is affected by BLAST from the attack)

image.png

At the beginning of Round 2, I had to lose Cursed Windeku due to POISON from Ruleset NOXIOUS FUMES (Health of all monsters in the battle arena is reduced by 2 per round). Meanwhile Silent Sha-vi was attacked by Unicorn Mustang and had to lose (together with Sand Worm who was hit by BLAST from the attack)

Dhampir Stalker had attacked Unicorn Mustang, before finally being killed by the opponent's Mantoid attack.

I have to thank all the monsters that have been eliminated from the arena. Thanks to them, Riftwing got enough Health to survive the POISON created by the NOXIOUS FUMES Ruleset.

STRATEGY (Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?)

My strategy worked pretty well. The enemy uses Magic as I expected, and it keeps Owster Rotwell's abilities from being wasted.

Besides, my victory in this battle was also due to mistakes made by the enemy (and I've done the same thing before). The mistake he made was that the placement of the Monster that had TAUNT (Mycelic Slipspawn) was not in the first or last position when meeting the Ruleset EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY.

The BLAST effect when placing a monster with TAUNT not in the position I mentioned will affect 2 monsters next to it (compared to placing in the first or last position which only affects 1 monster)

For Strategy next time, maybe I will rent a card with high Health and have Void or Void Armor as the ability (if dealing with Magic and encountering Ruleset NOXIOUS FUMES). or choose / rent a card with the CLEANSE ability when encountering the NOXIOUS FUMES ruleset.

Do you like Owster Rotwell?

Yes, he is one of the Favorite Summoners when meeting an enemy who uses magic. I often used him when I met Alric Stormbringer (Water Summoner that gave +1 Magic Attack to All Allies), because at that time (when PHANTOM STARTER CARDS was still using the Beta and Untamed edition) Water is the favorite Element for most players.

The combination of Alric Stormbringer and Venari Wavesmith (+Djinn Oshannus) had made some people overwhelmed to deal with it. But with Owster Rotwell, the problem can be solved (but also depends on the Monster and its placement).

For now, I rarely use Owster Rotwell. Because Alric Stormbringer is no longer in PHANTOM STARTER CARDS (you have to rent it at a high price to be able to play that Summoner).

And for the new Magic Summoner (Obsidian), its use by the opponent is very rare. Even if they use it, the monsters used are not all Magic Attack based (as you can see in this battle)

image.png

That was the discussion about My Battle using Owster Rotwell. Actually all the monsters that I used this time also had a big role, such as Riftwing which escaped from POISON, and Sand Worm which helped destroy Mycelic Slipspawn quickly ( and made him not have time to feel the atmosphere in Round 2).

I've found some interesting battles using Monsters from the Water element that I want to cover in the next Share Your Battle. And prepare yourself so you don't drowning, because maybe the next 2-3 posts I will discuss about them.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read. See you in the next post....

Hey @vrezyy! Wow, what a detailed guide. This will surely help other players who are also starting on Splinterlands. Anyways, I do want to recommend you reading this blog How To Get A Great Start on the Hive Blockchain about crossposting.

Thank you for the compliment. Actually I just wrote it like I usually do, but somehow I got carried away and ended up writing it in such detail. Maybe it's because I talked about my favorite card so I wrote it down in detail.

And thank you for sharing this useful post with me. I once had a problem regarding Cross-posting, namely a Whale Curator (how I call a Curator who has a large Upvote value) Upvote Cross-Post and not my original post. It keeps me from getting the Reward I should get.

(Edited)

Your welcome. Just be careful with cross posting into a lot of communities as it is not look upon positively if it already looks like trying to farm for rewards.

thanks for the warning. for now, I only use Cross-Post when holding GIVEAWAYS. And for posts like this (Challenges, Contests, etc.) I prefer to share them through Social Media because it is possible to attract non-HIVE users to know more about the whole ecosystem of HIVE itself.

That is great to know! Its still is a struggle attracting people to Hive in my end too. BUt I'm looking forward to that day when people just simply say "Hey, can you help me join Hive?!" Damn, I'd be elated when that time comes! anyways, thanks and keep doing what you do!
