Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.

In this post, I will explain a little about the new ranked battle system that just started this season and my opinion after many battles in this new system. In addition, I also share some battles using one of the cards...

SPINTERLANDS RANKED BATTLE OVERHAUL

NEW RANKED BATTLE SYSTEM

2 weeks ago, SPLINTERLANDS announced that there would be major changes to the Ranked Battle system. The changes took place on February 29th or at the end of the previous season. Some of these changes are:

  • Removing Leagues Limits

The point of removing the limit is, that we are no longer limited by the league regarding the level of the cards we have. For example, if in the previous system, we were limited to using a maximum of level 6 Rare Summoner in the Gold League even though our Rare Summoner was already at level 8, then in the new system, we are allowed to use level 8 Rare Summoner in the Gold League.

In addition, even if we have a level 1 card in the Gold League, we will not be penalized with a Reward point deduction. Unlike the previous system where if the level of our card is below the minimum limit of one of the leagues (Gold League: 8 for common, 6 for Rare, 5 for Epic, and 3 for Legendary) then there will be a reduction in Reward points.

The only thing that remains the same is the reduction of Reward points for using Starter Cards (Cards that have a S mark on the top side). And the way to overcome this is to rent or buy the card if you think it is still useful enough to be used even if it is only level 1.

  • Flat Rating System

In the previous system, the number of Rating points received when winning in Ranked battles was very dependent on the rank of the opponent you faced (if you win against a player with a high rating, you will get more points). But in this new system, the rating points received when winning in a Ranked battle is 20 points (not depending on the rank of the opponent we face).

These are just a few examples of the changes made to the NEW RANKED BATTLE SYSTEM. You can read the details in the link in the image above.

REVIEW OF THE NEW SYSTEM

Every change must have a little pessimism if it leads to failure. That's what I experienced when I was about to play Ranked battles in the new system.

As usual, I rented for one season all the CHAOS LEGION + Reward cards at their max level (hoping to qualify for DIAMOND III). Not being used to using cards at max level, I was confused by the cards' new abilities. In the first few battles, I lost a lot of battles just because I wanted to figure out a good strategy for each battle. But that didn't last long and I started to get used to the new abilities of the cards. Even though I lost again, I could understand because there were still those who were more proficient than me in using the cards at their maximum level.

I'm in GOLD II and have a few days left before the season ends. I started the season in GOLD III with a rating of 2050. I briefly moved up to GOLD I, but unfortunately, I had to return to GOLD II quickly after facing more advanced players who had more complete cards (I only relied on CHAOS LEGION and its Reward cards).

BLINDING REFLECTOR

One of the cards I used in the battle that I will share this time is Blinding Reflector. Blinding Reflector gets an additional ability at level 10 (max) in the form of BLIND . BLIND is my favorite ability so when Blinding Reflector has it, I want to try using this card (by using a possible formation). BLIND is an ability that allows attacks from opponent's monsters to fail to hit their targets. BLIND is given to all opponent's monsters, especially Melee and Ranged attack monsters (for Magic attack monsters, monsters that have PHASE ability are needed so that there is a chance that they can successfully avoid the opponent's Magic attack monsters).

Below are some battles using Blinding Reflector (along with other monsters that are already at their maximum level)

1st Battle

The ruleset for this battle is STANDARD (there are no modifications or restrictions on this ruleset).

As you can see, in this battle both teams used the maximum level of their cards. Cursed Windeku gets the SLOW ability, Soul Strangler has the POISON ability. As for the 2 monsters with 0 Mana points (Soul Fiend and Corpse Fiend), each already has an ability when they are level 4.

In the first round, none of the opposing monsters' attacks missed. Soul Strangler even managed to inflict a poison effect on Blinding Reflector. Dax Paragon also gave AFFLICTION to Cursed Windeku so that he couldn't use his HEAL ability.

In the second round, Blinding Reflector managed to dodge the attacks of Soul Strangler. However, in the end, he had to be defeated by Cursed Windeku.

In the third round, Celestia Harpy and Xenith Archer managed to defeat Cursed Windeku first so that Soul Strangler could not do anything because it was in the first position.

2nd Battle

The ruleset for this battle is ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? (In this ruleset we can use one GLADIUS card), LOST LEGENDARIES (This ruleset prohibits the use of Legendary monsters, but can still use Legendary Summoners), and FIVE ALIVE (Maximum slots that can be filled are 5 units)

In this battle, I was ahead in the level of the cards I had. Here, Naga Assassin has the additional ability of SWIFTNESS .

In the first round, my opponent's Naga Assassin was defeated by Uraeus and Celestial Harpy. My Vruz managed to dodge the first attack from my opponent's Dhampir Infiltrator and Vruz. However, he was defeated by the second attack from Dhampir Infiltrator. My Naga Assassin who received an extra point from Vruz's defeat also managed to dodge Orella Abadon's attack and dealt a 2-point attack (BACKFIRE ability) as the attack failed to hit her.

In the second round, Nimbledook Scout was defeated by Naga Assassin. Meanwhile, Dhampir Infiltrator and Orella Abadon lost to Uraeus and Celestial Harpy respectively.

Battle Review

Blinding Reflector can be an option to decrease the accuracy of the opponent's attack when the Mana provided is very limited or the magic attack monster is not allowed to be used in a battle.

With the maximum level of each monster accessible, the formations that can be used vary greatly even with a limited number of cards.
