Splinterlands Art Contest! // Week 166 // Edith Emberstar

Hi everyone. Before I talk about the process of my artwork on this one, I have good news and bad news. The good news, I finally entered the list of winners of the previous Weekly Art contest (https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-art-contest-week-166-10-booster-pack-prize) after participating in the contest 3 times. Even though I was in the last position (7) but I am very proud because apart from being given the opportunity to enter the list of winners, the number 7 is my favorite number.

For the bad news, my artwork this time is the worst compared to the others. Why is that? I will explain below..........

Character Selection

Image
The character I choose this time is EDITH EMBERSTAR, which I explained in the previous post that she is the last character from the Water Element that I will draw (But after the Chaos Legion cards appeared, it seems I found some new characters from the Water element that I wanted to draw, hmmm)

Sketching

This is the bad news (for me). Usually I just need the Ibis Paint X app to do everything (from Sketch to Finish), but for this character I have to need pencil and paper. Why? Because I want to draw EDITH along with her weapon (Bow and arrow). But when I tried to sketch it with Ibis Paint X (despite using various reference poses though) I couldn't find a match while drawing it. Finally I decided to take my unused notebook and start sketching it on the last page of the book. (like when I was in school, where the back page of a notebook was filled with scribbles)

I made 2 sketches because I was dissatisfied with the first sketch (the one on the right). The reason is none other than hand (again) and also the bow that feels "not appropriate".

After that, I took a photo and transferred it to Ibis Paint X. I redrawn the sketch just to make sure. (I also decided to change the sketch on the right and chose to draw both)

Lineart and Coloring

I didn't experience any significant problems while creating the lineart. Apart from that I don't need to draw hands, another reason is because I make sure it before. For the coloring, I changed some of the color palettes to be a little lighter (I took the palette directly from the sample image)

Completion

For the lighting, I'm thinking of making the light come from above (for the image on the right). And for the image on the left, because it's on a light background, I gave it a little light using an Airbrush.

I use my favourite Filter (you could say there is no other choice) Manga Backgrounds and Noise. And don't forget to add the @splinterlands Logo.

That's the end result of my artwork. There were problems at the beginning of the process, but when I found out that my previous Artwork was on the list of winners, I felt happy and relieved. I even feel "Whatever the final result of my work, I'm quite satisfied and proud" because I didn't stop halfway and I was able to finish the drawing of this character even though it didn't meet my expectations.

And thank you to everyone who wants to visit my post (whether just reading, giving upvotes, comments, etc.). See you in my next posts...

Oops, before I forget it. I want to give Clue about my own Splinterlands character, and the first Clue is >>>> She is a Ghost from #Indonesia.....

Special Thanks
@moonyoga for Background
@thepeakstudio for Dividers
@splinterlands for Logo and Contests
