How to take advantage of Venari Knifer's Thorns [ESP-ENG]

Hello everyone and welcome again!

Venari Knifer is a card that is overshadowed too much in the current meta because almost 100% of Splinter Earth players use Obsidian with Magic and Knifer does not synergize very well in that alignment, but the truth is that this card hides a tremendous potential because it is a kind of individual Mylor Crowling that can give you many surprises thanks to its stats.

In this post I'm going to show you a little bit about it, so welcome!

This challenge was a perfect fit for me because today my Focus was from Earth, and I was using Venari Knifer recurrently in my lineups. By the way... How are you doing with your Focus? Have you got used to the new system?

In case you don't know it...

Introducing Venari Knifer!

Edition: CHAOS LEGION.

Rarity: COMMON.

Element: EARTH.

Attack: MELEE.

Abilities:

  • TORNS at lvl 1

  • BACKFIRE at lvl 6

An as the lore says:

Venari Knifers are specialized rogues, assassins, and thieves that make their living through shadier dealings in the Realm of Silence underneath Praetoria. They often work as part of criminal organizations or guilds, taking on contracts to put more gold in their pockets. When the Chaos Legion's agents came to Praetoria, many Venari Knifers saw them as new benefactors for their mercenary work. Using the tunnels that run beneath the surface world, the Knifers move like shadows in the night to strike at their opponents.

Like the rest of their kin, Knifers are masters of tools and technology. They've used their knowledge to perfect the Knifer Rig. A deadly weapon powered by magic and pneumatics, Knifer Rigs consist of six fully articulated blades and rods carried on the back. When not in use, they fold away neatly and unobtrusively. When employed, however, they are silent, speedy, and absolutely deadly.
Lyberg rubbed his eyes and squinted around the dimly lit alley. He thought he’d seen… what? He wasn’t sure, but when he looked again, it was gone.

He shook his head. The day had been long. It was probably a trick of the light or his overwrought imagination.

As he started down the alley again, he heard a whisper of movement behind him. But when he spun around, there was nothing but darkness and shadows.

A series of sharp pains pierced his back in rapid succession.

Lyberg let out a cry and fell forward. He rolled over and let out a gasp. His attacker was humanoid, hairless and pale, with large ears and wide eyes. A Venari dressed in leather. From its back, six hinged metal rods protruded, each tipped with a wicked blade. In the moonlight, the blood dripping from them looked almost silvery.

Before Lyberg could so much as beg for his life, the rods pistoned forward, all six blades striking at once. Contract fulfilled.

How to use the Venari Knifer?

The main idea is to use it as a tank, I think it's great to combine it with Wizard of Eastwood because it removes armor from enemies leaving them vulnerable to Venari Knifer's thorns, it also has a very good speed and a very decent attack, it's a card with a lot of potential once you start using it well.

And for last, My Battle!

Round 1.

I already explained above why I think the best idea is to align Venari Knifer with Wizard of Eastwood, and if they are Melee-only battles it's even better, because you guarantee the damage of the Thorns.
The idea of Venari as a tank was also explained above, plus the Explosive Weaponry seemed to me a good excuse to take advantage of the tremendous speed of my Knifer, thanks to that it would be the first card to attack.
Fungus Fiend is here only to swallow the first damage of the blast, that is essential in these battles because it gives your other cards a chance to last longer on the field, it is also a 0 mana card, so whenever you can use it, it is advisable to use it.
Queen Mycelia and her shield are very important because it directly protected my Venari from 3 of the 4 possible enemy attacks.
Schreeching Vulture with his Opportunism was going to cause as many problems as possible to the secondary line of my opponent, I placed it at the end in case any sneak appeared, because it has flight and most cards with sneak are Melee or Ranged.

My plan went a bit wrong because of the Blast but Mycelia and Fungus served as a sacrifice to leave the battle served, the Enrage of the ruleset was decisive making my Venari have a damage of 5 points and 8 points of speed.

Round 2.

Venari Knifer only needed 1 attack to take down both the Haunted Spirit and the Death Elemental of my enemy and that secured the victory for me, because Twisted Jester couldn't attack, so no matter what, the victory was mine.

Another victory! 😍

A failed attempt 😞

Just for the fact of being a starter is already necessary to have this card and more now with the new reward system, but that's not why I like this card if not for its great performance in battles, it has very good stats from level 1 and once you learn to take advantage of that this card will give you a lot of joy.
