SPS Governance Pre-Proposal - Restart Pre-Proposals After Edits

Proposal: Restart Pre-Proposals After Edits

Proposed Change:

The purpose of this Proposal is to require that the voting process be restarted for any Pre-Proposal that is edited after voting has begun by running the updated version.

If a Pre-Proposal is edited after voting has begun, the author of the original Pre-Proposal must notify the DAO Manager. Upon notification, the DAO Manager will verify that the updated Pre-Proposal includes a link to the previous Pre-Proposal(s) for reference. The DAO Manager will then cancel the current vote and run the updated Pre-Proposal, initiating a new voting period.

A Pre-Proposal may be edited a maximum of two times during its entire lifecycle. After the second edit, the Pre-Proposal is considered final, and no further edits are permitted. If any additional edits are made, the Pre-Proposal will be cancelled.

No additional fees will be required for the DAO Manager to run the updated Pre-Proposal(s).

Rationale:

Under the current process, a Pre-Proposal can be edited after voting has begun. As a result, community members may cast votes based on an earlier version without realizing that the proposal has changed.

Restarting the Pre-Proposal ensures that all voters have the opportunity to review and vote on the same version of the proposal, improving transparency and maintaining the integrity of the voting process.

Limiting each Pre-Proposal to a maximum of two edits also prevents repeated revisions while still allowing authors to make necessary corrections before the Pre-Proposal becomes final.

Implementation:

If this proposal passes, the DAO Manager will be required to:

  1. Cancel the current vote if a Pre-Proposal is edited after voting has begun.
  2. Verify that the updated Pre-Proposal includes a link to the previous Pre-Proposal(s) for reference.
  3. Run the updated Pre-Proposal, initiating a new voting period.
  4. Cancel the Pre-Proposal if it is edited more than two times during its entire lifecycle.

It makes sense to me, but to prove a point... you should tack something on to this one after people already vote for it.

Kidding, of course! I voted for it.

I am against this change. This introduces unnecessary bureaucracy into our system and makes the process slow. People who are active, even semi-active can change their vote if the pre-proposal is changed.

The whole point of having a pre-proposal is to address this issue so that and proposal can be changed in discussion. We have the correct system in place, and it is working just fine.

I have downvoted the pre-proposal, and request other community member to NOT introduce unnecessary baggage and slowness into our system.

The pre-proposal can still be changed in discussion; it just forces the vote to start over again so everyone is voting on the new changes. I do understand your point of view, though. Thanks for providing your feedback!
