BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! EARTHQUAKE....

In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, i now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.

Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.

This week the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "EARTHQUAKE". As the name suggests, all monsters taking part in the battle that DO NOT have the flying ability will suffer 2 health damage per round.

This ruleset, can completely flip a battle on its head! If a battle lasts any serious length of time, it tends to favour the set up with monsters that arent effected by this theme.

To combat the effects of "earthquake" i would normally pick my tried and trusted Daria Dragonscale amd fill my team eith dragon type momster that have the flying ability.

Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle! After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, i finally came across the ruleset i was waiting for:

A lot needs to go in to a team when earthquake is in play; if you choose not to pick "flying" monsters, then ones with high health and the ability to heal should defbe considered.

But doing what #splinterlands does best, they threw a spanner in the works and added probably the most tricky ruleset to play along with:

GOING THE DISTANCE: Only monsters with ranged attacks may be used in battle

Taking all these rulesets in to consideration, I actually decided that for this specific battle, with these specific ruleset, i threw caution to the wind and went for something a little out there...... but bear with me, thefe is method in my madness!!

As i said, this ones a little far out there, but against a very strong opponent, my random selection came good. Its quite a well thoughtout strategy looking back, but it could have really gone "tits-up" at anytime.

Once the teams are revealed, i always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how i think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what i think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team.

From the get-go i noticed that two of their monsters had the heal ability in some shape or form. Neither of us picked all flying monsters, and their lvl 2 Spirit of the Forest had me incredibly worried....

I hoped that my monsters with "martyr" ability would boost the close range attack of my Beatrix Ironhand. Pair that with the last stand ability given by my summoner would make her a force to be reckoned with.

As i hoped, the summoner boost and gains from a double-martyr powerup were just enough for me to take out the spirit of the forest in one atrack....

Whos crazy now?? I bet you thought i would get taken to the cleaners with my (what appeared) random card selection! Was i right? Would you have picked a different team/combonation? If so let me knownin the comments below.
