In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, i now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.

Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.

This week, the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "EQUALIZER". Now, technically, equaliser is spelt with an S and not a Z, but never let the English language get in the way of a great opertunity. As the name suggests, all monsters taking part in the battle begin the battle with the same health points equal to the monster with the highest health to begin with.

This ruleset, can completely flip a battle on its head! Monsters that offer high attack points but with incredibly low health, now become very dangerous. It also creates a whole new style of play, where focusing your attacks at a specific monster can really reap the rewards and win you the battle.

By that, what i mean is, if your set up consists of monsters that have sneak, snipe or scattershot your not concentrating your fire on one specific monster and this could be your downfall. It also helps if you can inflic extra damage using "blast", magic reflect, return fire or any other ability to help bring down your opponents health faster.

Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle! After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, i finally came across the ruleset i was waiting for:

As i said earlier, the Equaliser ruleset can completely change how you pick your team. Monsters that would never be considered as a front row "tank", all of a sudden become amazing cards to use:

The "exploding dwarf" as an example..... with his speed, high attack points, pierce, blast and retaliate, throw in high health now and youve got a beast of a tank!

But doing what #splinterlands does best, they threw a spanner in the works by adding a ruleset alongside Equaliser just to mess with my.game plan.

NOXIOUS FUMES: All monsters start the battle poisoned. At the end of every round, all monsters lose health points.

Taking all these rulesets in to consideration, I actually decided that for this specific battle, with these specific ruleset, i threw caution to the wind and went for something a little out there...... but bear with me, thefe is method in my madness!!

As I said, this ones a little far out there, but against a very strong opponent, my random selection came good. Its quite a well thoughtout strategy looking back, but it could have really gone "tits-up" at anytime.

Once the teams are revealed, i always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how i think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what i think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team.

From the get-go i noticed that this was going to be a very difficult battle. Whilst my monsters had the heal ability, his monsters had "heal tank" ability.

I hoped that my monsters with "martyr" ability would boost the magic attack of my KRON, as expected him to be the last one standing... Pair that with the last stand ability given by my summoner would make her a force to be reckoned with. And can you guess what happened??

But lets rewind this battle. Whilst he kept on healing his tank, his other monsters were feeling the effect of NOXIOUS FUMES. My Flesh Golem and Kron continued to self heal, and this was the changing factor in this battle and the inevitable outcome.

As i hoped, the summoner boost and gains from a double-martyr powerup were just enough for me to see out my enemies monsters and actually take home a comfortable victory.

Whos crazy now?? My lvl 1 summoner comfortably taking down his lvl 5!! Just goes to proce that a well thought out configuration will always trump a higher level player. I bet you thought i would get taken to the cleaners with my (what appeared) random card selection! Was i right? Would you have picked a different team/combonation?
