BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! NOXIOUS FUMES.....

In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, I now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.

Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.

This week, the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "NOXIOUS FUMES". As the name suggests, a deadly poison courses through the bodies of your monsters, slowly whittling down their health, round by round....

This ruleset, can completely flip a battle on its head! Conventional battle plans go straight out the window, it also creates a whole new style of play. With the correct selection, it is possible to field a suprisingly deadly team, but one but of advice: youre going to need a lot of health!!

Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle!

After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, I finally came across the ruleset I was waiting for:

But doing what #splinterlands does best, they threw a spanner in the works by adding additional rulesets alongside MELEE MAYHEM, just to mess with my mind and really get me thinking.

BRIAR PATCH: All monsters have the thorns ability.

Taking these rulesets into consideration, and with the limited number of summoner choices available to me, I actually decided that for this specific battle, with these specific ruleset, I would pick my tried and tested LVL 5 ALRIC STORMBRINGER. Theres some decent monsters to pick from, plus with "Briar Patch" in play, magic attack negates this ability and could potentibe the difference between a W and a L.

As you can see, its not a bad line up!??! Ive managed to fill all the slots available and use up the majority of the mana points available for this battle.

When ever I come across the "NOXIOUS FUMES" ruleset, it really is a bit of horses for courses..... There are a good few options available to counteract the -2 health at rhe end of every round. You can go all in with high health monsters and hope to finish the battle early before the effects kill you, or have a few monsters with the "heal" ability.

Once the two teams are revealed, I always have a quick look at my opponents set up, before hitting rumble. I like to playout in my head how I think the battle will unfold. I try and predict what I think the outcome may be, and judge how well my opponents have set up thier team. With the high mana and specific rulesets, I think ive done quite well and built a very competitive team....

My opponents choice of summoner has been wisely chosen. My strong magic attack will now have to contend with an even higher level Alric Stormbringer.... Weve both thought about those pesky thorns, concentrated on magic attacks and both thrown in a mknsyer with the "heal" ability!

So can my lvl 5 summoner take out my opponents lvl 6 summoner?? Its going to be tough.... They definitely have some decent monsters out on display. His KRAKEN will take the bulk of the damage with its taunt ability, the rest is unknown!! With that said im sure its going to be a challenging battle. Lets hit rumble and see how this plays out!!

The stage was set, two strong summoners, with very similar approaches, these teams are sure to give a great battle.

Before the battle even begins, my opponents monsters buffs take effect.....
EXTRA HEALTH X2 ☑️
DEMOROLISE ☑️
SLOW ☑️

It left me a little short in the speed department!! So can my offence over come his well built team? Only one way to find out!!

Round two carried off where round one ended..... My monsters are holding their own, just, and thanks to reflect magic, I may stand a chance here aftee loosing my first monster.

My magic attacks are causing havoc! His KRAKEN has been taken out!! Reflect magic is causing some damage and noxious fumes is taking its toll (on both teams).

Thorns is also helping to take some life and the tides look to be turning in my favourite.

Its looking to me like this battle is heading towards a stalemate. I can see our remaining monster being those with the heal ability. Could it play out any other way?

With one last throw of the dice, my pirate captain left me eith one final present before dying... It managed to inflict the "affliction" ability on to my opponents BAAKJIRA. Without its heal ability, it wont be much longer!

Round 6 and 7 were a bit of a wet fish! Judt hoping my Gelatinous Cube can hold on and its superior health will see it home and dry.

VICTORY!!!..... If in doubt come out all guns blazing..... my opponents team was well thought out, but once his BAAKJIRA lost its heal ability, they stood very little chance **NOXIOUS FUMES turned out to be the deciding factor in a very competbattle.

Turns out it was a complete and utter blowout in the end! Im pretty chuffed with how that played out.... it couldnt have gone any better i dont think??

Ultimately, the deciding factor in this battle was NOXIOUS FUMES. I checked using the SPLINTERTOOL page, the battle shows me as having a 100% of pulling of the win.
