Splinterlands Boss Fight

One of the big upcoming modes in Splinterlands is Boss Fight! I have often tried to dream up what this mode might look like, and tonight I ran across a proposal by @Tehox and I used some of my own artwork for a relevant visual.

I have been thinking about this mode for some time and I would like to propose my version.
(This is the first draft, and it certainly requires improvement)

HOW IS BOSS CREATED?

= The Boss is created from the union of 3 Splinterlands cards, like this:
= A card must be MELEE, one RANGED and one MAGIC
= ARMOR and HP are the sum of the values of all 3 cards
= For the MELEE, RANGED and MAGIC attacks, the highest value of the chosen cards is taken
= Also for SPEED the higher value of the three cards is taken
= MANA is the sum of the value of the 3 cards
= all the abilities of the 3 cards are joined together (in this case it will have to be evaluated if some abilities are incompatible with each other or with the game mode itself)

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN TEAM?

At this point we have a single enemy with very high stats, it’s up to the player who will have to:

= The available mana is the one given by the sum of the mana of the enemy Boss
= Select any card among its available
= Using Summoner to upgrade your team is optional

HOW DOES THE BATTLE TAKE PLACE?

The battle is calculated automatically, following the standard Splinterlands rules
Except the Boss always makes 3 attacks, one of each type

OTHER TO CONSIDER

To use a ruleset or not
Each useless ability in this mode grants 1 additional HP to the Boss or Player
Bosses made up of more than 3 cards
Limit the splinters available to the player

BOSS EXAMPLE 1: FIRE BOSS

Exploding Rats + Ettin Spearman + Caladuum

SPEED: 7
MELEE: 4 + RANGED: 5 + MAGIC: 3
ARMOR: 4 + HP: 22
Abilities: Blast, Redemption, Trues Strike, Void, Cripple, Immunity, Thorns, Piercing, Knock out
TOTAL MANA for Player: 23

BOSS EXAMPLE 2: CHAOS LEGION LEGENDARY BOSS

Grum Flameblade + Queen Mycelia + Zyvax Vuul

SPEED: 3
MELEE: 5 + RANGED: 3: + MAGIC: 1
ARMOR: 5 + HP: 28
Abilities: Bloodlust, Void Armor, Void, Giant Killer, Protect, Amplify, Triage, Rust, Flying, Recharge, Close Range (useless), Deathblow
TOTAL MANA for Player: 23

Possible evolutions of the game mode:

different and consecutive difficulty levels for the same boss, for example by decreasing the mana available to the player, or by limiting the splinters available to the player, or by increasing the stats of the boss

co-op mode: two players can join forces against a Boss made up of 6 monsters joined together. Each player will have half of the total mana available and the two players will face the Boss with two separate lines of attack

My Thoughts

I like Tehox's idea for merging three monsters into a Boss Monster, however I personally would love to see a brand new monster with unique stats and Splinter specific stats, lore and abilities. I used a giant robot monster named Quearmethious as the sample, and could be an invading monster from outer space. The monster would spit out minion bots that look like regular Splinterlands cards that players need to kill in order to start hitting the boss. The stats and abilites would reflect this idea.

The evolutions of the game mode is a great way to get a lot of use and replayability from each boss, especially with smaller mana options and limited splinters making the challenge that much harder each time around. Co-Op mode would be a really fun way for the battles to go down. It would also be cool if boss fights only trigger certain times doing the season, and perhaps with limited time windows and with a different boss each time it activates (a little like how daily quests are randomized).

Overall, it was really fun reading this proposal, and has hyped me up on this mode. Especially as it gets brought up often during the town halls, or in discord. **What ideas do you have for Boss Fight? **

Hi @williamhessian, I'm glad you appreciated my proposal, I would be very happy if new game modes were added to Splinterlands, so I tried to give a useful idea.
I chose 3 merged cards instead of a completely new card to be able to use existing assets, combining the stats of 3 cards you can quickly create a huge number of bosses without too much work

But I like your vision with a boss sending minions, this could also be an interesting idea
Finally, I congratulate you on your illustration, it is very beautiful
