MAJOR WOO UPDATE TO RANKED GAMEPLAY!
๐ WOO RANKED JUST CHANGED: PLAY THE LADDER WHENEVER YOU WANT

Ranked matchmaking in Wrestling Organization Online just received a major update.
Until now, playing Ranked meant needing another player searching for a match at roughly the same time you were.
That creates an obvious problem.
WOO players live in different countries, have different schedules, and log in at different times of the day.
Ranked shouldn't only work when everybody happens to be online together.
So we're changing the way Ranked matchmaking works.
โก INTRODUCING ASYNC RANKED SHOWS
You can now build a Ranked Show, lock in your lineup, and leave it waiting for another real player to challenge.
You and your opponent do NOT need to be online at the same time.
No bots.
No sitting on a matchmaking spinner waiting for somebody to appear.
No browsing through opponents looking for the easiest fight.
Just:
Build your show.
Take the next eligible fight.
Climb the ladder.
๐ RANKED IS STILL RANKED
Before we explain the new system, we want to make one thing clear:
We are not replacing the Ranked Ladder.
Your existing Ranked systems remain.
That includes:
- Ranked divisions
- Season points
- Season progression
- Season rewards
- Match budgets
- Card selection
- Land
- Bookerโs License
- Rankings and leaderboard progression
Ranked is still WOO's competitive seasonal ladder.
We're changing how you find an opponent โ not what Ranked is.
๐ฎ THE NEW PLAY SCREEN

The Play screen now separates the two matchmaking systems.
You'll be able to see players currently searching for a Casual Match alongside the number of Ranked Shows waiting for a challenger.
For example, if the screen says:
1 pending show waiting
that means a real WOO player has already built a Ranked lineup and is waiting for somebody to answer the challenge.
Press Play Ranked Match and WOO handles the assignment.
Casual remains live matchmaking.
Ranked now uses pending Shows.

๐ HOW ASYNC RANKED WORKS
When you press Play Ranked, one of two things happens.
SCENARIO 1: NO RANKED SHOW IS WAITING
If there are no eligible Ranked Shows waiting, you become the Promoter.
The game generates your Ranked match conditions, including your random match budget.
You build your team just like you normally would.
Once you're happy with your lineup, submit it.
Your Ranked Show is now posted.
And you can leave.
You don't have to keep WOO open.
You don't have to sit through a matchmaking timer.
You don't need another player to be online at that exact moment.
Your Show simply waits for a challenger.
โณ YOUR SHOW IS NOW PENDING

Once your lineup has been submitted, the Ranked Ladder displays your pending Show.
You can see information including:
- Your match budget
- Venue
- Number of locked cards
- Your submitted wrestlers
- Time remaining before the Show expires
A Ranked Show can remain pending for up to:
24 HOURS
But there is something you won't see.
Your opponent.
Because you don't have one yet.
And when somebody eventually accepts your Show, they won't get to scout you first either.
๐ YOUR CARDS ARE COMMITTED TO THE SHOW
Posting a Ranked Show means committing those NFTs to the match.
The wrestlers and cards selected for your lineup stay locked while the Show is pending.
This prevents somebody from submitting a roster and then changing it while another player is preparing to answer the challenge.
If you:
- Sell a locked NFT
- Transfer a locked NFT
- Undelegate a locked NFT
- Level up a locked NFT
your pending Show will be cancelled.
You can also manually cancel your own Show while it is still waiting for an opponent.
Once the Challenger confirms their team, however:
The match is locked.

โฐ WHAT IF NOBODY CHALLENGES YOUR SHOW?
Your cards won't stay locked forever.
A Ranked Show can wait for an opponent for up to 24 hours.
If nobody challenges the Show during that time:
The Show expires.
Your cards unlock.
You'll be able to create another Ranked Show and try again.
At launch, each player can have:
ONE PENDING RANKED SHOW AT A TIME
We want to start conservatively.
Allowing several pending Shows at once could lock large portions of a player's collection across multiple fights.
So we're starting simple.
One Show.
One Challenger.
Finish the fight.
Go again.
๐ฅ SCENARIO 2: A RANKED SHOW IS ALREADY WAITING
This is where the new system gets interesting.
If another player's eligible Ranked Show is already waiting when you press Play Ranked, you become the:
CHALLENGER
But you don't get to choose who you're fighting.
WOO uses:
FIFO MATCHMAKING
First In, First Out.
You are automatically assigned the oldest eligible pending Ranked Show that you did not create.
There is no lobby full of players to browse through.
You don't get to look at six opponents and decide which one appears easiest.
There is no:
"I don't want to fight that player."
There is no:
"That lineup looks weak. I'll take that one."
You press Play Ranked.
WOO gives you the next eligible fight.
๐ YOUR OPPONENT IS A MYSTERY

When you are assigned a pending Show, the Promoter remains hidden.
You do not see their name.
You do not see their roster.
You do not see their strategy.
Instead, you see:
Mystery Opponent
You receive the same match budget the Promoter received and build your lineup without knowing what is waiting on the other side.
This is intentional.
You can't build a roster specifically to counter theirs.
And remember:
They couldn't counter you either.
The Promoter already submitted their lineup before they even knew who would challenge the Show.
Both sides make their decisions independently.

๐ซ NO SCOUTING. NO OPPONENT SHOPPING.
This is one of the most important parts of Async Ranked.
Ranked matchmaking is deliberately hidden both ways.
THE PROMOTER DOES NOT KNOW:
- Who will challenge the Show
- What lineup the Challenger will use
THE CHALLENGER DOES NOT KNOW:
- Who created the Show
- What lineup the Promoter submitted
Only after both players have committed their teams can the matchup be revealed.
That means Ranked remains about:
Building the strongest possible Show under the budget you're given.
Not hunting for somebody you think you can beat.
๐ THE CHALLENGER CONFIRMS โ WE HAVE A MATCH

Once the Challenger submits their lineup, both sides are committed.
The pending Show becomes a completed matchup.
The Mystery Opponent is revealed.
Both teams appear.
And the Ranked Show can be simulated.
One player might have built their roster at noon.
The other might answer the challenge that evening.
They never had to coordinate.
They never had to be logged in together.
But the fight is still between:
TWO REAL PLAYER-BUILT ROSTERS

๐ค WHY NOT JUST USE BOTS?
Bots would be the easy solution to a matchmaking population problem.
If another player isn't online, simply generate an AI opponent and send you into a match.
But that's not what we want Ranked to become.
Your climb through the WOO Ranked Ladder should come from competing against rosters created by:
OTHER WOO PLAYERS
Async Ranked allows us to solve the matchmaking availability problem without filling the competitive ladder with artificial opponents.
When you enter a Ranked fight, somebody on the other side built that Show.
They just might have built it several hours before you got there.
โ๏ธ OLD RANKED VS. ASYNC RANKED
| OLD RANKED | ASYNC RANKED |
|---|---|
| Both players need to be searching | Players can enter at different times |
| Wait for another player | Post your Show and leave |
| Live matchmaking window | Show waits up to 24 hours |
| Empty queue can stop you playing | Pending Shows remain available |
| Opponent needed immediately | Opponent can arrive later |
| Bots could fill population gaps | Real player rosters only |
| Matchmaking spinner | FIFO Show assignment |
| Both players online together | Play when you can |
๐ฎ CASUAL IS NOT CHANGING
Casual matchmaking remains live.
We believe there is room for both systems.
CASUAL
Jump into matchmaking and look for somebody who is playing right now.
RANKED
Build your Show whenever you're available and participate in the competitive season without needing another player online at the exact same moment.
The two modes now serve different purposes.

๐ PLAY RANKED ON YOUR SCHEDULE
Ultimately, this entire update is built around one idea:
PLAY WHEN YOU CAN.
Maybe that's Saturday afternoon.
Maybe it's before work.
Maybe it's late at night.
Maybe it's a random Tuesday when nobody else happens to be searching at the exact second you log in.
You shouldn't need to ask:
"Is anybody else playing Ranked right now?"
Hit Play Ranked.
If somebody is waiting:
Take the fight.
If nobody is waiting:
Build the fight.
Then let the next WOO player answer your challenge.
๐ฎ AND WE'RE NOT DONE
Async Ranked solves the everyday matchmaking problem.
But that doesn't mean we're abandoning the idea of bringing everybody together for special competitive windows.
We're also interested in future concepts such as:
- Weekend tournaments
- Special competitive events
- Prime Time bonus windows
- Limited-time Ranked incentives
Those systems could give everybody a reason to pile into WOO together at the same time.
But those should be:
BONUSES AND EVENTS
They shouldn't be a requirement just to use the Ranked Ladder.
Async Ranked keeps the ladder playable throughout the week.
Special events can make certain times even more exciting.

๐ BUILD THE SHOW. TAKE THE FIGHT. CLIMB THE LADDER.
The new Ranked system is built around a simple philosophy:
PLAY WHEN YOU CAN.
Build your roster.
Lock it in.
Let another real player answer the challenge.
Or take the oldest Show already waiting for you.
No bots.
No opponent shopping.
No requirement that two people on opposite sides of the world happen to press Play at the same moment.
One Show.
One Challenger.
One Winner.
THE ROAD TO THE MAIN EVENT IS OPEN.
Are you ready to climb the Ranked Ladder?
