Stop Their Melee Damage!

Hello everyone! Let's talk about Disintegrator in Splinterlands for this week's "Share Your Battle"! Follow along for the break down of this battle and hopefully you can use the Disintegrator to win matches in Splinterlands as well!

Disintegrator's Strengths

  • Lowering the team's melee damage
  • Can do a little damage back if rule set allows for melee to attach from the backline.
  • Rulesets like Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak, Opportunity.
  • Neutral card that can be played any match that doesn't have the no neutral ruleset.

Disintegrator's Weaknesses

  • Not a good front link tank. Low hp means very vulnerable to magic attacks.
  • It's slow with only 1 speed.
  • Highish mana for what you get for a 7 mana cost card.

The Setup

Rule Set → → →
image.png

  • Melee Mayhem - Melee monsters can attack from anywhere. This allows us to put Disintegrator in the backline instead of a front line tank. It will live longer and keep the enemies melee lower.
  • Fog of War - We won't have to worry about our backline getting attacked besides monsters that have opportunity or scattershot.
  • 46 Mana - This is a lot of mana for a silver match, especially without many cards to work with. For this reason I chose Kelya as there are many good high mana cards in this deck, especially with melee monsters attacking from the backline.

Placing Disintergrator In Our Team

image.png

  • I place Disintegrator near the back of the team to make sure that the it lives and demoralizes the enemy team's melee damage the whole match.
  • Serpent of Eld will be our first tank as with high speed and dodge, it will miss a lot of melee and ranged attacks.
  • Oshannus acts as a secondary tank while doing magic damage. I put him second in case the enemy played a lot of magic damage and killed off our Serpent of Eld.

Let the Battle Begin!

image.png

  • With the amount of melee damage our team has, we kill off their Eleven Defender round 1.
  • Disintegrator nerfing the enemy melee damage and Serpent of Eld getting just enough dodges, it survives with 1 hp. Hopefully it can dodge a couple more shots and get healed up by our Merdaali Guardian before it dies.

Round 2... Keep Missing Please!

image.png

  • The Serpent of Eld dodges a key shot by the Supply Runner and gets a tank heal on it. By the end of the round it does get hit and die off but it's done it's job.
  • Now that we have blown through their Bone Golem, we only have one tank to go before their ranged attackers fall into first place and can no longer attack.
  • Even if the whole enemy team hits Oshannus, with the demoralize from Disintegrator he will still survive with 1 hp and also get a heal back to 4hp.

Round 3 Almost Over!

image.png

  • In round 3 we take some thorn damage from Cursed Windeku but no enough to make a big difference.
  • Cleary with Oshannus alive and our Diemonshark still at full hp and shields, even if Oshannus dies we have enough tankyness to still win the match.

Round 4 GGs Baybee!

image.png

  • Oshannus gets missed by an attack and heals back to 4hp.
  • With the Serpent of Eld being the only one who died off, we almost achieved a flawless victory with our lineup!

Concluding Thoughts

  • Disintegrator in my eyes is a situational monster. In the right ruleset, or the right matchup to counter heavy melee, he is pivotal. He should never be your front line tank but can be a great backline edition when the right match comes your way.

Thanks for following along the breakdown of this battle! I hope the Disintegrator can bring more wins to your matches!
