Evening Splinternerds

One of the best thing about Splinterlands battles is there are so many variables and there is always a good chance of anyone of them getting activated in time to turn the tide. The strategies and all the planning does play a key role but there is a certain luck factor one can always hope for. No matter how perfect your strategy is, things can always go sideways if luck is not on your side.

Although Splinterlands discontinued the share your battle weakly challenge but sometimes you get across a few battles that are too amazing to ignore. Today I came across one of such battles that was too good and it would be a shame to let it go by without sharing it with you guys. So here we go...

Battle to Remember

This was a 24 mana battle with three rulesets; Explosive Weaponry, Holy Protection and Noxious Fumes. Three splinters were allowed Fire, Earth and Life.

My Strategy

Since Noxious Fumes ruleset was in play so I decided to go with Fire Splinter as it would allow me to use FORGOTTEN ONE monster with Immune ability. I didn't have KRALUS else I would have gone for Life splinter.

Battle mana was low so I went with TARSA summoner. Upfront I placed GELATINOUS CUBE and backed it by SCAVO CHEMIST for Cleansing. Next I placed FORGOTTEN ONE as a reserve monster.

Enemy Strategy

Enemy shrewdly responded with CHANSEUS the Great and brought KRALUS in play. In the back ranks he also placed a Martyr ability monster. The plan was to let CHANSEUS do the shield repair on KRALUS every round, let the martyr monster die multiple times of Noxious Fumes and Blast damage, this would trigger Martyr multiple times thereby boasting KRALUS attack heavily.

Battlefield outlook in the first look suggest that enemy outsmarted me with his strategy. KRALUS with CHANSEUS was indeed a lethal combination. But luck was not on enemy side, and his own summoner started working against him.

Martyr ability didn't got triggered early because CHANSEUS kept healing VENARI MARKSRAT in back row. Meanwhile my GELATINOUS CUBE kept on gaining health due to Scavenger and Healing abilities....all the death happening in battle field due to Noxious Fumes kept on feeding GELATINOUS CUBE.

In the end it all came down to triggering Martyr ability of VENARI MARKSRAT but KRALUS didn't allowed that. Needless to say enemy own summoner began acting to his disadvantage. It was a funny to watch how one's own monsters/summoners can be responsible for their demise.

VENARI MARKSRAT died in the last rounds due to Fatigue but it was too late as my GELATINOUS CUBE became too healthy till than.

Final Thoughts

To me battle was lost as I saw enemy line up. But I latter realized that enemy got caught in a loop of his own making which eventually led to his demise.

That will be all for today.

The summoner really played against the strategy in the game. Very good battle.
