Splinterlands: BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! Back to Basics RULESET
Hello Splinternerds
Time for the BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge.
To spice up weakly battle challenge splinterlands came up with idea of BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge will allows players to showcase their strategic skills through their line up in battle field in variety of battle rulesets.
So theme for this week's BATTLE MAGE SECRETS challenge is Back to Basics ruleset. Back to Basic ruleset monsters loose all the abilities whether personal or from fellow monsters. But they can get to be influenced by summoners buffs/de-buffs plus all influenced by abilities from other overlaying battle rulesets.
e.g. With Back to Basics monsters can loose their inherent blast ability but can get that ability from Yodin Zaku. Other case can be Void from Mimosa, Magic Reflect from Owster and etc., the list goes on.
How to Play
Playing with Back to Basics ruleset requires certain considerations like other binding battle rulesets and battle mana cost. e.g. in high mana battles heavy legendry summoners like Zaku are preferred. Many people like to go full on magic in Back to Basic ruleset to avoid encountering any shield. And if you can guess enemy preffered go to summoner in Back to Basics ruleset you can always effectively deploy counteracting summoner to turn enemy attack towards himself. It all depends judgment and intuition.
As far as monsters placement is concerned since Opportunity, Sneak and Snipe are out of equation so heaviest monsters are placed upfront with weaklings in the last.
MY BATTLE WITH ARMOR UP RULESET
This was a 15 mana battle with three battle rules; Back to Basics, Aimless and Noxious Fumes. Earth, Life and Dragon splinters were allowed.

MY LINEUP
QUIX THE DEVIOUS
Since Aimless ruleset was also in play so decided to go with QUIX THE DEVIOUS
to hamper enemy ranged attack. Battle mana was low and there was still high chances to enemy using low mana ranged monster which are plenty in Dragon & Life Splinter.
PELACOR CONJURER
Up front I went with one of the best low mana tank in Life splinter, PELACOR CONJURER
. Look at its stats like health & speed. This guy is perfect for Back to Basics and Noxious Fumes rulesets.
DAX PARAGON
On one down I used DAX PARAGON
. It is another low mana option. DAX PARAGON
's offers high health of 5 costing just 2 mana so it will serve the purpose.
NAGA ASSASSIN
Next I used another low mana monster, this time it was Dragon rare monster NAGA ASSASSIN
. Her stats like health, speed and mana cost make her a very thrifty option in low mana battles.
PEACEBRINGER
Next is the turn of another ranged monster, PEACEBRINGER
. Costing 4 mana PEACEBRINGER
is going to server as my main attack option due to its heavy ranged attack.
CHAOS AGENT
On the last position, I was left with 1 mana only so I went with a no attack option, CHAOS AGENT
. Although it will not attack but it can certainly server as a target for enemy ranged attack monsters and eat away at least one attack. In low mana battles like these every attack counts.
BATTLE ANALYSIS
The battle was simple enough. Enemy summoner and monsters were not compatible. Plus monster choice was also certainly not good enough as far as Noxious Fumes ruleset was concerned. My heavy health monsters made sure that I survived the Noxious Fumes and emerged as the winner.
That will be all for today.

The dragon splinter is one of my favorites. It's a shame that they are usually the most expensive cards.
Good battle.
