Card Spotlight #2

╘═══════════════╡°•✧•°╞═══════════════╛

We have a very special card to introduce today and I'm pretty sure you will love it specially when I tell you that... You can use this card for free. Yes, that's right. It's included the first time you buy a spellbook and the best thing is this is a neutral card that you can use in every build. Let's get right to it.

Card Spotlight: Elven Cuttroath

╘═══════════════╡°•✧•°╞═══════════════╛

The card we will be discussing today is Elven Cutthroat.

We would rate this card based on:

  • Cost to buy/rent this card. How affordable and accessible is the card.
  • Card Stats. How balanced the card is based on its role.
  • Card Effect. How useful is its effect based on the role of the card.
  • Strengths and Weaknesses. If the card can counter other cards and/or be countered easily by others or not.
  • Positioning. Adaptability of where the card can be placed.
  • Compatibility. How useful it is on its current element.

    Rental/Buy Cost ||

    For new players or in bronze, you don't need to worry about it because as I stated, it is completely free. However, for all our silver brothers out there, if you want to be generous and increase its stats, renting it to level 5 would give Elven Cutthroat 2 health, 1 melee, 1 speed for 23 dec/day. It is a bit steep but in the okay price considering you can use it in any build as long as the rule allows it.
    Below is the rental and buy cost of the card at the time of this writing.

Card Stats ||

  • Damage: 1
  • Speed: 3
  • Health: 1
    Elven Cutthroat has a decent stat for a free card. The most amazing part is the 3 speed. This means that most of your battles, if you include this card, it would be one of the first ones to attack. Due to its speed as well, it has a fair chance of dodging any melee or ranged attack which is always a plus.

Card Effect ||

  • Sneak: Allows this card to attack the last card on the opponent side.
    Sneak is a good strategy if your opponent employs a hard to kill tank. Due to this card's 1 melee, attacking the tank which normally has shield ability, would inflict nothing. Sneak is a good ability to bypass the tank and prioritize the supports at the back first. However, there are certain cards that can counter this and shut down the strategy very easily.

Strengths Weaknesses ||

|| This card is best used in decks that strengthens attack like inspire-oriented build. Its fast speed allows it to attack first and kill the opposing backrow before it is killed.

|| Elven Cutthroat weakness is apparent to its health. It is a glass cannon. It's kill or be killed. One blast would normally insta kill this creature. This could be fought by using cards which increases health or basically, just level it up. It is a neutral card that can be used in any build so nothing would be brought to waste.

Positioning ||

  • The best position for this card is in the middle. The 3rd and 4th position is the safest because it is safe from frontal and back assault. Other than that, you can place him at the very back at the last position if the game rule with opportunist and blast is currently played. This allows him to play as a bait and avoid being targeted by the opportunist ability then inflicting a splash damage around it due to blast ability.

Compatibility ||

  • Any deck complements this card. As a neutral card, you can place him anywhere but the best way to play Elven Cutthroat is with Fire builds, which increases its attack like in this replay...
    Or in Life builds with inspire alongside Silvershield Assassin. Life has a certain build sneak build which plays to this card's strength.

    Final Thoughts

With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that this is a decent card specially on low mana fights. Unfortunately, this should just work as a filler until leveled up because there are far better choices that does his job as well.

All in all, I would give it...

It is good, yes. However, due to its low health and the myriads of snipe and opportunist ability, using higher health cards is a better choice. It would still be a decent choice if the rules don't allow you to run high mana cards.
