I got my first credit reward!

Although it's only equivalent to 0.3 cents and it's not something to celebrate but, still, I'm quite happy.

Getting this credit reward unknowingly made me reminisce about the past. When $1 can buy 1000DEC. When renting cards can take you to Diamond 1. It was a time when Splinterlands was but only a small game with a small to medium-sized community. A cub. But now, it has turned into a Behemoth and still continues to grow stronger as time goes on.

Now, I want to share my story. How I got to know Splinterlands, when did I start playing, and how am I doing so far?

How did I get to know and when did I start playing Splinterlands?

I started playing Splinterlands last July, during my COVID quarantine, because of Axie Infinity. When you're a bored lonely man in a quarantine facility with no one to talk to, it could get boring and lonely fast.

Yes, I am one of the lucky people that got COVID and survived, thank God!

A friend of mine kept posting about Axie Infinity and it got me curious by the words "Play to Earn!".

How could there be something so sweet? You can earn just by playing a game? No need to post your mediocre skills on Youtube. You don't even need to be good at playing the game in order to earn? Count me in! But reality hit me hard.

In order to start playing Axie, you need to have a team of 3 Axies first, and to my surprise, it costs around $1000 to buy a whole team. The agony! Good thing is that I learned that there are these things called Axie Scholarships, where one can be something called a 'scholar', where you play for a 'manager' and the earning is split between the two of them.

This and that happened and I joined 'Yield Guild Games' and while waiting to be a scholar I got to know Splinterlands, I bought my first spellbook and got a promo code from 'Yield Guild Games' for my second one. I bought 2 additional spellbooks, and during my peak of renting cards, all my accounts reached Diamond League.

Now, 3 months later, I have a total of 10 accounts and I am still playing Splinterlands and still waiting to be an Axie Scholarship.

I see people complaining that only "rich" people earn money a lot of money from Splinterlands, I disagree with that, there are a lot of ways to earn money in Splinterlands, from earning DEC, to getting a reward card from Daily Quests and End of Season rewards, there are a lot of ways to earn money.

Here are my earnings for playing the game for three months as a free-to-play player. I know it's not a lot, but it's something, considering that I did not pay for anything other than the $10 I paid when buying my first spellbook.

One only needs to get the right mindset and perspective. Here's something one should look forward to, the two next big updates after Chaos Legion, are earning SPS from the ranked game and Lands gameplay. Look out for those opportunities!

Splinterlands has its growing pains, like having server issues because of the unforeseen growth of users, Astronomical rental fees at the end of the season, Bot farmers, and some other issues among other things, but those issues are being fixed, one issue at a time.

Splinterlands is a fun game and it is unlike any other.

If you are still reading until the end of this blog, cheers to you! I hope you are enjoying the game and get a bright future playing Splinterlands!

Peace out!

With the state of the game right now. If you're in bronze 1, you should be able to earn around 150 to 200DEC if you use up 25% of your energy capture rate. That's around $2, it's not so bad.
