I am leasing out a part of my Splinterlands card collection again (2022.06.22)

A part means my valuable cards in this case. My total owned Splinterlands card collection is currently worth $153.77 USD. Many of my Splinterlands cards worth a few cents, but there are a few valuable Splinterlands cards, and I am leasing out those Splinterlands cards.

You may ask why. Why I lease out these Splinterlands cards instead of playing?

The new reward system looked very promising at first. I started to rent cards. I even reached the Gold III League in the previous season. And I was lucky enough in the previous season to earn even a card pack from one of the focus chests.

But the quality of the rewards declined again over time. At first, there were cards, then a few hundred Dark Energy Crystal (DEC), then a few Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) again. Then the usual Alchemy and Legendary Potion Charges. A bunch of them.

Maybe this is just/only my experience, but this is what I experienced in the first season with the new reward system. I saw some people, who stopped playing Splinterlands at the initiation of the new reward system. At least I tried it out. I gave it a chance.

It did not made the game better. Players need to put more time and effort into the game to earn the same (or even less amount of) rewards.

Too much effort for too little rewards. Not to mention the fact that 5000 focus point was needed for one focus chest in the first season, and now, in the second season, 18 000 focus points is needed for it. Probably because I reached the Gold III League in the previous season.

But it is not worth it. The rewards does not cover the cost of the renting of the cards, let alone giving any amount of earnings. Maybe I rented the wrong cards. I do not know.

Either way, it needs too much time anyway. I would need to play the game for many hours just to earn a focus chest.

So I think that it is not worth it. Nor in time, neither in money.

The card leasing gives me around 137.438 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) per day.

The current average price of the Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) is $0.00094 USD, so I earn appromately $0.12 USD per day. Which is approximately $3.60 USD per month. That is good for a lunch in various restaurants in the city, where I currently work (Szolnok, Hungary).

Probably not bad for an investment of approximately $153 USD. So Splinterlands is still good as an investment, but not so much as a game.

Or at least this is what I can currently say, based on my personal experience. Maybe your experience is different. It would be very good to read it, so feel free to write a few words about this in the comment section. Maybe I can even learn one or more things. Maybe it is possible to play this game in a profitable way with card renting, just I currently do not know about it.

Good luck and have fun.

I second your opinion, the new system only reward whales who own a lot of special cards.

Time is money, if what you play does not pay you off, it means it is not only loss of your precious time but also investments.

But, there is one problem, if you put your assets on rentals, you'll not get SPS rewards from their collection power, so calculate your CP first to check whether CP provides you good amount of SPS or not, I would not recommend sending your cards for rentals. You can also buy DEC to improve SPS airdrop. SPS is 0.054 $ if you get enough from SPS why renting?

Thank you for mentioning this. I have not even thought about which gives better return so far. Today is the 331st day of the SPS airdrop, and it lasts for a total of 365 days, so there is approximately one month remaining until the end of the SPS airdrop. I reconsider removing my cards from the rental market until then. The staked SPS is currently certainly gives a much better return than the card rentals. The staked SPS currently has a 40.67% APR interest rate, while the card rentals are currently giving me 28.80% yearly ROA.

You still get CP points for renting out cards to other people. The CP just doesn't count towards your league rankings.

I think it depends on the cards you have in your deck. I do agree that the rewards for fighting and chest have dropped. The bots have probably figured out the best way to maximize the rewards so they are eating into the pool and DEC price has also dropped.

I think if you are playing for Gold chests, you will need to be playing in Gold leagues. Otherwise the points won't be enough, especially at the start after the reset. I am staying in Silver league and collecting Silver chests because that is more manageable for me.

I am no longer competing. At least not in Splinterlands. I decided to stop playing Splinterlands. It is not worth it anymore. I had hopes about the new reward system. I hoped that it will make the game good for everyone. But it did not. This new reward system favours the rich. To describe it simply, the developers changed the game from play-to-earn to pay-to-win.

Hmm I actually beg to differ. I don't belong to the rich because I haven't invested any money in this game (except 10 USD for the spellbook), but I am able to play this game and earn decent rewards through renting cards and playing to my strengths. So I would say it's a play-to-earn for me. All the best!

Looks like it is working for some people, while it is not working for other people. I have read from various people that they stopped (or at least took a break from) playing this game.
