Hello everyone, I come your way today to present my social media challenge entry for this week. This week, I’m not going to talk about the rebellion packs or a battle but rather, I will be giving a few tips as a way to help those looking to start out in splinterlands or have already started.

Just to divert a bit, the splinterlands rebellion packs pre - sale has officially ended and we’re now going to be waiting for the sale on the general market and when we can officially open the packs we purchased and testing out the new features.

I still consider myself a newbie in splinterlands because I started playing in January this year. I haven’t even clocked my first year anniversary but I love the progress and how far I have come thus far.

The splinterlands game is a play2earn game that runs on the hive blockchain. It’s a web3 cards game that allows players to select monster cars and enter into battles with other players. This is a game of strategy that involves testing your knowledge on the various cards at your disposal.

Before anything new users must first purchase the summoner’s spell book which gives you some cards to play with. Without the spell book which costs $10, you cannot play.

New users must know that there are 6 elements from which you can select cards. That is, fire, water, earth, life, death and dragons. Each sets of cards have unique monsters specific to them but there are also common monsters players can select regardless of which element they choose. And that is the neutral cards.

So, basically, the game revolves around selecting cards from theses element decks, putting them in the right positions and entering them into battles.

New users should know that every battle has a ruleset given. The ruleset determines the kind of monsters you pick for the battle. Ignore the ruleset, and you lose the battle easily.

There are 3 types of damages monsters can inflict on each other. We have the magic attack, ranged attack and the melee attack. Each of these attacks have their limits but the one I like best is the magic attack because it has the least limits. The magic monsters mostly eat up the opponent’s health directly while the ranged and melee attacks hit the shield first. That is why, I prefer to use the magic monsters.

I would advise that before you start playing, you take your time to read about the gameplay from the main page of the game, read about the monsters, read about card strengths, among others. You can also watch a few videos on YouTube. I found videos for beginners from Bulldogs very useful when I was starting out.

Communities are very important in splinterlands. You should join the official discord channel for spl because you can get a lot of help from there. You also get to know about new proposals and potential new updates in the game and you also get to pick the brains of other players. There are also players who do airdrops of packs and cards to other players in some communities.

Looking out for communities is one of the ways you can join a guild. A guild is very important because you enter into brawls with your team mates and at the end of the brawl, you’re awarded with “merit”. It is with these merits you can get soulbounds cards which are very good cards.

New players shouldn’t bother themselves with losing battles when they start out because at the beginning you’re at the novice stage which basically just trains you and helps you become conversant with the game before you join the bigger leagues and start to play for something. As a beginner focus on learning the rulesets and positioning of your card. Also, make use of the battle history feature because it will help you predict on the kind of summoner or monsters your opponent might play

When you successfully master the novice stage, you’re advanced to the bronze 3 stage and if you’re able to master that you move to bronze 2. There are differ levels in spl which come with increased rewards.

New users should know that everyday you play for focus chests which rewards you with potions, $SPS and cards. Players also play for season chests. A season lasts for 14 days and at the end of it you open the chests you were able to earn.

I have enjoyed my time so far with the game but one challenge I particularly face is advancing into silver 2 stage. My highest so far is the silver 3 stage. I guess it has more to do with my cards and the more experienced I face.
