Possessed Puppet - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 282

avatar

Hey Splinterlands fans and everyone else!

Hello! I want to share my post and entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 282. This week, I kinda wanted to redo a character I'd done once before, you can check it out here =𝕻𝖔𝖘𝖘𝖊𝖘𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝕻𝖚𝖕𝖕𝖊𝖙=- 🩸🔪💀.

Last year, I did this same character but with a different form, meaning I was going for some kind of Annabelle, Chucky, Saw, or any other similar character. It wasn't bad at the time, but that was its essence, being a puppet or doll. So this time, I wanted to try something different, with a bit of humanity but without leaving aside the lurking danger that it represents internally.

I'm a fan of makeup, well not all types of makeup, I usually go for the Gore type, with lots of blood and something macabre, designing alien characters, creatures, illusions, something weird that makes you think, wow, can that be done on a face? very creative 😃.

The truth is, for this drawing, I wanted it to be like a makeup, well not entirely, but that's what came to mind since she's a "normal" person, not a terrifying puppet, I had to DIY on her face 🤣🤣.

I made a video of this drawing, now there's no electricity but maybe I'll make a gif to show you a bit of the process, if you don't see it below, it's because I gave up on that idea in the end.

𝕬𝖓𝖉 𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝖎𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖊 𝖔𝖋 𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖘 𝖇𝖊𝖆𝖚𝖙𝖎𝖋𝖚𝖑 𝕻𝖔𝖘𝖘𝖊𝖘𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝕻𝖚𝖕𝖕𝖊𝖙:

A possessed puppet is a construct created by a spellcaster to act as a spy, servant, or even an assassin. It appears to be an innocuous doll until the last moment when it strikes. It is not unheard of for the creator to lace their construct's weapon with various maladies as well.

Possessed puppets are used for all manner of tasks, some darker than others. Alchemists utilize them in their stores to assist with their work, while shopkeepers have them run errands. Due to their blind obedience and lack of conscience, though, many are tasked with assassinations and other devious plots. Nothing is quite so unnerving as a child’s toy with a pair of daggers, about to snuff out your life.

What they are most prized for, though, is their ability to telepathically transmit anything they see or hear back to their creators, making them incredibly effective spies. This exchange of information is possible through the blood used in its creation, which creates a mystical bond between puppet and master.

✨✨✨

Here are some pics of the process

1.jpg

When I started this drawing, I just began with a blotch of color on a dark background, and as I progressed, I'd detail it more. That's how I work, making a drawing in which I didn't do any sketching. The process, to me, both ways work well, although this one reminds me a bit more of a canvas where you shape the idea you have. It's a fun and free way to do it.

-.-

2.jpg

I usually don't like to put so many steps in the posts, I mean the progress is quite wide, significant compared to the previous ones. This is because when I'm drawing, I record the screen and save the images for the step-by-step, but I get so into the drawing that sometimes the screenshots, so to speak, are very far apart from each other.

-.-

✨✨✨

In this drawing, unlike the others where I always work on the face last, well, no, this one had to have the face as the focal point, so I've spent quite some time on it, as I progressed towards improvements in what I thought was wrong. I've made some eyes, but it seems to me that this is one of the prettiest 🤣🤣.

-.-

4.jpg

After being happy or partially happy with what I had done, it was time for the other half of the face. For that, I initially used some clipping masks, but then I just did it on the same layer with layer locking.

-.-

So, this drawing, if my memory serves me right, I worked on it in about 4 layers initially:
the face and torso,
hair,
the other half of the face,
background.

As I progressed, I added and also collapsed layers; I wasn't just going to do a head, so it was time to complete the body and there were also a few other things missing.

-.-

In the previous step, I had only put a dark base for the clothes, but that wasn't really what I wanted because my idea was to make some kind of lace. So I needed to do some skin and also some dark spots and folds for the clothes. But starting from this base.

-.-

For the ending, I think there was a lot missing, just the knives, detailing a few things, improving the background, so far it was just a dark background and some other things.

Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.

Wowwww what a beautiful face hides, maybe a dark and deadly interior, or maybe one that is pitch black to the total extreme. Wonderful @yanes94 ❤️

Ohhhhh wow, thank you so much! Yeah, you're right, it's true. Although I prefer this one, it's a bit more like what I do, although monsters also have their charm, hahaha.

I'm glad to have met you, that you liked it, and that you've been a witness during this time we've known each other. I appreciate your kind words!

This community has seen me grow over the years, and I value what I've learned and shared with people like you and the other artists. I hope to see your art again too!

Happy weekend
