My HIVE introduction

The purpose of the article is to introduct myself so that you can get to know more about me.

WHO I AM

Hi, My name is Yuki. My hive username is yukihyakubai. I am from the northern part of Japan. I currently live in Texas, USA. I studied chemical engineering in college and graduated in 2013. After graduation, I was not sure if I really want to work at a place like chemical plant or a factory. I found a thing called programming from Youtube. Now, I work as a software engineer.

How I grew up

I'm from a region called "Tohoku" in Japan where we get a lot of snow in winter. We spent hours cleaning snow every day. The fun part of that was that we learn how to ski at school and we went skiing with other students every year.

However, in summer, it gets hot and humid.

I played baseball around 4 years from 11-15 years old after school. I was not so good at sports but I'm glad I exercised when I was young.

I played Japanese archery in high school.

In Japan, most of students join a club and do activities with other students after school. I picked Japanese archery because I still wanted to do something physical but archery looked pretty simple. After sometime, I learned that it is not at all simple as it looks.

What brought me to the US

To make the long story short, when I was in college, I studied abroad in the US for 1 year and met my future wife there. I wanted to study abroad since I went to Australia when I was 15. I studied English a lot and I have saved up money by teaching English to younger students at cram schools after class.

How I discovered HIVE & splinterlands

2021 Spring, I started investing in crypto. I invested in Bitcoin, Ethereum but I was looking for small caps to invest in.

One day, I ran into a random crypto youtuber and he was talking about Splinterlands. He was talking about how he played this game 2 or 3 years ago and cards he had gone up so much in value. He was talking about how the game will start SPS airdrop and it's a good time to invest in the game.

I missed out on Axie infinity. I didn't want to pay $1000 to start a game and pay crazy gas fees. I did research on other NFT games but Splinterlands looked the most promising. To be honest, Splinterlands Art looked old and not pleasant to look at when I first started. I'm used to looking at characters in anime. However, I was immediately hooked after I understand the game mechanics.

There was much less information on Splinterlands back then (around June, July 2021). Even Bulldog1258 didn't have so many Splinterlands videos yet. I learned a lot from Bulldog1258 and Dwayne Cunningham's video.

Passionate about Splinterlands

Dwayne's saying, this game rewards you for your time and attention, resonated with me. I joined time and attention II (T&A2) guild by winning their tournaments. I'm so happy that I joined the guild because there are so many great people to talk about Splinterlands.

For many months, I was staying in the silver or gold league. That's because card prices kept going up until Chaos legion comes. I didn't have any legendary summoners. I thought I would stay in gold for a long time.

However, the chaos legion changed it completely. The card prices went down significantly, it allowed me to max out cards and reach the champion league. Now, my future goal is to climb high on the champion leaderboard and do well in diamond tournaments.

I'm excited to see what Splinterlands bring in the future! 😃
