Hi Everyone! It is an exciting time in Splinterlands!

Today, I'd like to share a battle with Mycelic Slipspawn.

It starts with 2 magic, 2 speed, 10 health and taunt.
Forcefield is gained at level 4 (silver league).
Slow is gained at level 8, max level.

This card is very valuable because it has taunt with magic damage which means even when you put at the very back, it still can attack.

The reason why you like to put a taunt monster in the back is to split the opponent's attack so that the front tank and the taunt monster both live longer.

Today's battle:

58 Spreading fury, Odd ones out

Thoughts on the line up

58 mana, everyone has enrage and odd mana cards only. Dragon, Earth, Death are available.

  • Odd mana only means the only taunt available is Mycelic Slipspawn

  • Forcefield can be very helpful in spreading fury ruleset because enrage increases melee damage it which increase the probability of Mycelic slipspawn getting just 1 damage from the opponent monsters.

  • The probability of seeing Mycelic clipspawn is very high, so I specifically chose monsters that have attacks lower than 5.

  • dragon jumper is very popular and a great card but I avoided it because its attack is 5, if it hits forcefield, it only does 1 damage. Instead, I picked gargoya devil which has 4 archery damage.

  • It is high mana, so the chance of seeing giant monsters that have higher than 9 mana is high, so I picked desert dragon for the 1st position.

  • The vigilator and carnage titan are great with double strike, attacking twice with lower than 5 damage.

  • Scale doctor is one of the best support cards that can heal Mycelic slipspawn.

My assumptions were met beautifully. They have Mycelic Slipspawn, 2 giants, dragon jumper!

and here's what happened...

Only 1 damage from Dragon Jumper!

This is why I like Mycelic slipspawn!

Closing thought

Mycelic Slipspawn is the only taunt monster in odd ones out ruleset. It is very good when the opponent monster has more than 4 damage because it has forcefield.

Rift watchers will introduce a new ability called "Fury" which does double damage against the taunt monster. I wonder how it interact with forcefield.

If a monster has 3 damage but it should do 6 damage to a taunt monster even when the target has forcefield? I think the answer is yes because it seems that the system is looking at the natural attack damage. When recharge monster hits forcefield, it does tripple damage even though it does more than 5 damage. We'll see how it works soon!
