Splinterlands - Even Stevens Strategy - HIGH mana battles

Hi, everyone!
How are you enjoying the new modern and wild battle system?
Today, I'm going to write about meta line ups in the even stevens ruleset. If you didn't know, in this ruleset, you can only use monsters that have even mana (0, 2, 4,6 etc)
I like to watch champion players' battles. So I picked some battles as example battles to show some of the most popular monsters in this ruleset. I organized the battles by a splinter. Let's start from Fire!
Fire
- Popular summoner: Yodin Zaku
- Popular monsters: Magnor, Prismatic Energy, Cornealus, Spirit Miner, Supply runner
Example battle:
99 mana, even stevens, equalizer
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_7e288d843cedbdb07a6f55bd681394c5

How this team wins
overwhelming damage from relatively fast archery or magic with Yodin blast
Weak points
- tend to lose if the team is significantly slower
- tend to lose if the team relies on too much archery damage and the opponent has much resiliency (e.g. chanseus + shieldbearer etc)
That's why it's important to add monsters like Spirit miner and supply runner with swiftness. Also, the new CL reward card, countess sinash is getting used.
Water
- Popular summoner: Vulnamor
- Popular monsters: The Kraken, Djinn Oshannus, Prismatic Energy, Ruler of the seas, Phantom of the Abyss
Example battle:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_5bde865b7c25c7166575a48b9c34737a

How this team wins
- overwhelming magic damage with fast speed
Weak points
- tend to lose against void and magic reflect
(e.g. Unicorn Mustang, Prismatic Energy, Dark Ha'on)
Earth
- Popular summoner: Prince Renynn
- Popular monsters: Unicorn Mustang, Cornealus, Supply runner, Mitica headhunter, Prismatic Energy, Queen Mycelia
Example battle:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_4bd220b19568900499a3a7ac512e6a73
How this team wins
- big archery damage + some resiliency with Queen Mycelia, protect & triage and reflect, reduce magic.
Weak points
- Speed (kitty), Return Fire (Lir deepswimmer), -1 archery (Mimosa)
Earth is not very popular choice in even stevens high mana battles. One reason could be that there's no taunt monster with even mana in earth (Mycelic slipspawn is the only odd mana taunt). So if you knew that the opponent uses earth, opportunity might be effective. Water has 2 opportunity monsters with even mana (feasting seaweed, deeplurker)
Life
- Popular summoner: Chanseus the great, Grandmaster Rathe
- Popular monsters: Shieldbearer, Prismatic Energy, Cornealus, Kralus, Bila the radiant, High priest Darius
Example battle:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_9de9eff25f214fe3b23ba7a8cf0c09a2
How this team wins
Reflection damage + Stun + Resiliancy with resurrection and (void armor from Rathe or triage + repair from Chanseus)
Great count for Vulnamor magic spam, Prince Renynn archery damage, or Yodin team.
I think Grandmaster Rathe will be more popular in this ruleset because of that.Weak points
- Speed, speed, speed. If the opponent's tank has Phase and fast speed (e.g. Kitty + nightmare), this team is slow, so won't be able to hit the tank very often.
Death
- Popular summoner: Mimosa Nightshade
- Popular monsters: Harklaw, Nightmare, Corrupted Pegasus, Phantom soldier, Cornealus, Dark ha'on, Octopider
Example battle:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_85a9d9b574266dcb20b70303f411dc11
How this team wins
- Reduce archery damage and magic damage, reflect magic damage with dark ha'on. It's very effective because melee is not popular in this ruleset.
In my opinion, you should put Dark ha'on in the back so that dark ha'on is not likely to get melee attack, more likely to get magic attack. Dark Ha'on is strong against magic because of void and magic reflect but not so strong against physical damage.
Weak points
- Speed: those death monsters are relatively slow.
- Too mach damage: Even though it's doing archery and magic debuffs and Dark Ha'on is a great monster, too much physical or even magic damage can take Dark Ha'on down. Once Dark Ha'on is gone, this team is not super hard to take down.
Dragon
- Popular summoner: Byzantine Kittty
- Popular monsters: Chaos dragon
Example battle:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_c489cdc141e34a37734650c59e2b0eab

How this team wins
Kitty's speed and true strike helps naturally slower monsters. Especially, a lot of Earth, Life, Death monsters are slow. So using kitty with those monsters has benefits.
The most used dragon card was by far Chaos dragon.
Weak points
- depends on which splinter or monsters you pick
Even Stevens (High mana) Strategy Summary
In General
Expect magic and archery
- Expect Archery and Magic
- Not so many sneak, opportunity monsters
Popular teams in each splinter:Fire, Yodin archery + magic
Water, Vulnamor magic
Earth, Renynn archery + magic reflect
Life, Reflection, Resilient
Death, Magic, archery debuff, Dark Ha'on magic void + reflect
Dragon, Kitty speed and chaos dragon, random magic blastAs it is often the case, speed is very important also in this ruleset.
