From the bottom of existential depression comes this sprawling double album. Droney, Shoegazey, Noisey and straight up transcendental are a few words to describe it. The album goes from beautiful acoustic playing to loud bass/guitar and industrial beats to crippling walls of sound that make you feel like you're floating at the same time as being crushed. Songs build and swell and reach climaxes that hit incredibly hard. Vocals are used more of an instrument which is a symptom of the minor black metal influence on this album, that being said if you can even hear what the vocals are saying, the lyrics are depression incarnate. An album i would recommend to anyone into remotely experimental music.

A Wintersunset... - Empyrium

A very folky album, with lots of acoustic guitar-work, flutes and very melancholic clean vocals. This is mixed with some very melodic doomy guitar work, which is one of the highlights on this album, especially on Ordain'd To Thee. The vocals also sometimes include raspy black metal vocals. Empyrium continued this sound on their 2nd album before proceeding to make full folk albums, but returned to a sound similar to this album in 2021 with a new album.
The first time I listened to this was during a hike out in nature and it was absolutely wonderful. To this day the atmosphere of this album takes me away, some people might find this cheesy, boring or may find the production lacking but to me it sets the mood perfectly and I would recommend anyone to give it a shot. Musically its not that similar but atmosphere wise it really reminds me of Orchid and Morningrise.

Genre: symphonic folk/doom.
