Good day everyone splinterlands community, zactian here. Today I'll blog about another weekly challenge, Battle Mage Secrets, and share my strategy.
Up close and Personal is the challenge, in which all team units lose all the armor and never be restored in this battle. I'll play my Scholar account this time (IGN: BLTZR-WIZARD-728). I found match-up grinding and will reveal my primary technique on this rule set. Comment below with your opinions on the potential lineups at this level. Is it really helpful for this battle ruleset? Let's see and match up with the Up Close and Personal rule set.

Up close and Personal

Only Melee units are playable in this battle. Hybrid units are still playable like a combination of Melee and Range, or Melee and Magic.

Rule Set

Up Close and Personal
  • Only Melee units are playable in this battle
Briar Patch
  • All units have Thorns ability
Healed Out
  • All types of Healing abilities are removed in this battle

Recommended summoner to use Up Close and Personal rule set for this match:

Dominating in Damage

  • Yodin Zaku
  • Tarsa
  • Skargore
  • Possibilus the Wise
  • Byzantine Kitty

Dominating in Debuffing buffing

  • Possibilus the Wise
  • Camila Sungazer

Dominating in Speed difference

  • Byzantine Kitty
  • Kelya Frendul
  • Lux Vega
  • Conqueror Jacek

The battle has a 32 mana cap to use summoners and cards. Fire, Water, and Dragon elements are active in this battle. I will be choosing Kelya Frendul the Water element as most lineups I remember and the best for best in speed and I'm planning to use Deep Lurker and Diemonshark as my Core damage hoping I would win.

Note: I only have limited cards but useful in some rule sets and will try my best to win with existing cards. So if you want to have a high chance of winning then I advise you to rent or buy cards that are useful or stronger for most rule sets.

Kelya Frendul

  • Additional +1 for both Armor and Speed.
    • Good tanking and attacking first.
    • Most of the units in this water element are at high speed already.
    • I'm planning to use Deep Lurker as my main damage and Diemonshark as a tank and hoping it will retaliate and trigger Trample. 😅

My Lineup

First position - Diemonshark

  • Act as a tank with a decent amount of health and armor. Abilities are also helpful especially enrage Ability making this unit stronger if not in full health, it adds 50% of both speed and melee damage.

Second position - Tide Biter

  • Act as additional damage as it has Reach ability and 3 melee damage with Guarantee hit ability to the opponent. And the Reflection Field is pretty useful hoping this unit survives till it executes most of the opponent's front position units.

Third position - Pelacor Bandit

  • Act as a sneak attack on the opponent at the back. This position makes a good choice if the opponent uses opportunity ability as this unit is high in speed and has a Flying ability that has a chance of miss incoming attacks.

Fourth position - Deep Lurker

  • My core damage in this team, is a 5 melee damage and a chance of applying poison to the enemy it attacks.

Fifth position - Dumacke Orc

  • Act as support at the back position, making it a tank position if the opponent uses Sneakly attacks.

Last position - Hardy Stonefish

  • Adds another bait tank at the back if the opponent uses Sneakly attacks.

Analyzing Battle

The opponent uses Yodin Zaku a much stronger Summoner, the lineup of the opponent is also good as most of its opponent units have Sheild ability, the Living Lava, and Andtoid Platoon. I think the opponent uses Shield because of the rule set Briar Patch and it made position to use. And I think War Chaang is the opponent's main range damage with summoner Yodin Zaku it made this unit a pretty good combo. Although I have bigger speed than the opponent it still gets Thorns by Briar Patch. My only chance of this is for Tide Biter to defend against the blast of Yodin Zaku and Deep Lurker to apply poison to the opponent.

Effective or not?

Luckily effective, the Opponent War Chaang unit was able to retaliate against my Deep Lurker making it executed and Pelacor because of the blast. Although my Diemonshark was also able to Retaliate, Trample, and execute both Antoid Platoon and Radiated Brute. This makes my plan able to execute luckily, and I did check the opponent's history that's why I chose Tide biter if the opponent uses Yodin Zaku. As you see the match the opponent wasn't able to utilize the full power of Yodin Zaku because it was only level 3, and maybe I will be easily defeated😅.

I like this rule set because I can use water elements and Sneakly attacks with limited card use. If you want to use Water Line up please do check some of my blogs and I hope it will help you.😊
