Burning Forest - Splinterlands Art Contest #208!
Looking at the process, I wanted to keep the colors and tones as dim as possible because I wanted the result to be a bit creepy, dark and scary. I needed the expression to be seen and felt in the process, the colors, and the outlook. I guess I was able to keep that dim look from the start to finish.
The lion should have been accompanied or chased by some corpse with the owl flying above it, but something felt off so I just had to leave it with the outlook rather.
And funny how I have left this sketch in my draft for months now, about four to five months to be precise💔😂
I finally got the chance to finish it today. I started working and brushing it up yesterday and got to finish today cause of my laziness and lack of time too.
I wasn't focused and had limited time yesterday that's why I couldn't finish this. Today would have been the same but I made up my mind to get this out of my way for the very last time.
And because I didn't want to miss @splinterlands Art Contest for this week.
So let's see what we got in the work process below.
The trees were one of the things that wasted my time. Four months ago when I started the sketch, I didn't work well on the outlines, I only rushed over it and didn't get some of the trees looking straight or the lines touching each other, so when trying to fill in the colors and paint it, most trees had an overflow of the colors so I had to undo and then redo the tree layer. I literally erased the trees and started all over again. After that, I worked on the black stripes on the Tiger's skin, even that of the owl.
I then worked on the walkway. I sketched tiny stones and pebbles on the walkway and painted the road grey.
After working on the outlines and stripes with the walkway, I started filling in the corresponding colors and painting the tiger's skin, and the owl too. I also painted the field layout using two different tones of green color on separate layers.
On the field layout I created, I neatly added grasses to it using a fitting color.
After this, I was left to refine areas I had to refine, retouch and work on some surfaces too.
Then in the last step, I made the owl's feather fall off as a result of the force it applied, trying to fly away from the fire effect I created to burn up the forest.
I also created a moving effect for the tiger to indicate its panicky movement too, from the fire as well.
And then I sketched a few bones from the skeleton of a decayed body
And that was it for the sketch that took me months to finally finish or remove from my draft💔😂. I got inspired by this art some months ago by an artist I met on one of the social platforms.
I hope you like my illustration today.
See you guys around and thank you for stopping by!

Nice artwork is good ♥️♥️♥️♥️👉👈
Hi Zelly, there are several details that I liked in your illustration, first of all I have to say that I found it super interesting that you will represent the movement with diffusions and out of focus; Just like in photography, I think it's a very daring and unusual combination of techniques.
On the other hand, I don't know if it is precisely what you wanted to represent, but despite the fact that this piece is related to Splinterlands, it conveyed a very thoughtful message to me about how human activity affects other species and how we damage the habitat of others to make our own.
Without more to add, I simply say goodbye congratulating you and saying that I really liked it and your work came to me.
Oh thank you for this, I appreciate your kind words.
Actually it's kind of sad when some times we tend to eliminate the habitat of others to build ours like you said. I love how you related my art to this and the message you drew from it, so impressive😊
Thank you dear. I hope to see you around and thanks for stopping by with such thought-provoking comment.
Well dear Zelly, I think that if you are going to comment you should take the time to express to the author a true appreciation of how the work has reached us, what it made us feel and if the artist is good (as in your case) extend a well-deserved congratulations .
I like to bring other people words that motivate them and not simply tell them "good job" or "your work is very beautiful", that can be done by anyone and those comments do not motivate or help the artist to know what ideas, opinions or feelings he was capable of to generate your work.
You are right dear and such comments you have mentioned aren't always encouraging and I am glad to hear someone else thinks the same and knows how well to connect with an author and pass the message to them and let them sincerely feel their words and thoughts through their comment.
Thanks once again.
