My First Collateral Damage Battle Ended Better Than I Imagined | A Risky 93 Mana Match

avatar

Hello players of splitnerlands, I'm back with brand-new post update, with the fresh details of my latest victorious push! The momentum hasn't slowed down for a single second. As you know I recently broke through the gates into Silver III. Well, the grind didn't stop there! I have been testing my strategies in this new tier and trying to adapt to the harder matchups and pushing my rating even higher.

Let’s break down my latest high-stakes battle and the sweet daily rewards that followed! Look what have I got, an Avatar Item: the Vega Tattoo. Since I already owned it, the game hooked me up with a sweet backup prize of +100 Sparks. I think that was fair enough.

The Battle Conditions & Lineup Strategy

  • Mana Cap: 93 Mana
  • Ruleset: Collateral Damage (All units have Reckless—each successful attack also deals 1 damage to adjacent allied units)
  • Not eligible Elements: Fire and Life are locked out.
  • Eligible Elements: Death, Water, Earth, and Dragon are on the table.

Well a 93 Mana match with the Collateral Damage modifier was insane! Also, it's my first time playing it. I had no idea what it's job. But still I was confident because of the high mana cap. So, I had the ultimate freedom to drop a heavy lineup but the splash damage from Reckless meant card positioning was going to be absolutely vital to avoid hurting my own team. I didn't know what to do so, I trusted my favorite summoner, Thalgrimore, to lead the charge.

My opponent this time around was RIO-JOHN (playing with No Guild), sitting at a 980 rating. But it felt like he was a professional player. I was playing under my usual in-game tag, ZOE01, locked in and ready to extend my reach further into Silver III. I have noticed one thing, there are only a few girl gamer on Splitnerlands and I have seen them on Hive only. I am not sure if there's more, but I have always got guy opponents. I find it a bit strange, haha. Anyway, let's focus on the match again.

My High-Mana Lineup Configuration

I have 93 Mana available so I curated my favourite synergistic squad locking in at 48/93 Mana. Here is the exact roster I sent into the arena:

  • Summoner: Thalgrimore (Debuffing enemy health right out of the gate)
  • Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee)
  • Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack)
  • Position 3: Sorrow Harvester (Magic)
  • Position 4: Vengeful Monk (Melee)
  • Position 5: Great Bear Druid (Magic + Melee)
  • Position 6: Black Widow (Ranged attack)

Well, my high-HP front-line mitigate damage while my backend targets chunks of health. And as always, keeping Black Widow safely secured in the very back provides excellent anchor support also she has a good amount of lifeline.

The Clash: 5 Rounds of Chaos

When the match started, it turned out RIO-JOHN choose a Thalgrimore lineup. There our team compositions shared many of the exact same cards. Because of the Collateral Damage modifier, every single hit echoed across adjacent units. It was a brutal war of attrition. I would say that their lineup layout was decent but still they couldn't keep up with my cards. The battle pushed deep into a thrilling 5 rounds!

As time passed, my squad was the one who stood tall. It was a stellar VICTORY! Well, Nim Guard Captain and Black Widow saved the match in the end. I would say, I had done a great job to place her in the backline.

This hard-fought win rewarded me with a massive +40 rating points, I couldn't believe that I have won without a standard ruleset. So, pushing my total rating to a beautiful, flat 1160. Silver II is looking closer and closer by the day! I hope after a day I'll be in Silver III very soon.

Daily Rewards & Loot Pulls

After locking down that clean victory, I clicked claim for my latest Daily 5 match winning Rewards. After clicking "Claim," I got the chance to reveal three awesome card additions to keep expanding my growing collection:

  • Rare Card: Vicious Quilliun (A stellar addition!)
  • Common Cards: Wilhelmdale Deputy & a Gold Foil Hungry Ulund!

I have pulled shiny Gold Foil version of Hungry Ulund and it was the perfect cherry on top of a great session. I already have those cards yet I'm excited about them. Anyway, pushing deep into Silver III has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. The season is still hot, so let's keep grinding. Well, I'm ready to keep climbing. See you all on the battlefield!
