Splinterlands:Olivia of the Brook's Masterclass in Survival & Mimicry 🔥

Good morning, warrior! The season just ended and was incredibly exciting, with significant improvement on my side compared to last season. There's this battle I want to share with you, those battles that reminds you why we love this game — a brutal, low-mana, high-tension 15-round war under some nasty rulesets. Total mana cost was 23, and the modifiers made it a true test of positioning, adaptability, and endurance.
In the Splinterlands game, you need some element of luck and the ability to anticipate what your opponent's lineup might look like—and that's exactly what played out in this battle.
Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building. Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥

FEATURED CARD:
Olivia of the Brook is a powerful Epic Life unit monster from Splinterlands' Rebellion reward set, renowned for its dual Magic and Melee attacks and game-changing Mimic ability. This 6-mana cost goddess thrives in prolonged battles, adapting by stealing enemy abilities to become nearly unstoppable.
Lore
Olivia roams as a legendary fugitive with her snow leopard companion, evading the empire's bounty hunters through ambushes and traps. Her tale embodies resilience and cunning adaptation in the wilds by the brook. The above artwork captures Olivia's ethereal, dual-wielding goddess form amid misty waters, snow leopard at her side.
Core Stats
At max level (6)
Olivia of the Brook (Human)
Mana: 6
Key Stats: Speed 3, Magic Attack 1, Melee Attack 2, Health 7, Armor 0.
Its dual attack types make it versatile in rulesets like Up Close & Personal, while Opportunity (from level 1) lets it snipe low-health foes from any position.

Key Attributes and Abilities

At level 1(Bronze),she has opportunity ability.
Opportunity: Attacks from anywhere, prioritizing the weakest enemy.
At level 2 (Silver), she gains a unique ability called mimic.
Mimic.Gains a random enemy team ability each round starting round 2; 25% chance to copy an attacker's ability when hit. Can't mimic targeting/debuffs like Void, Flying,Taunt or Debilitate; Dispel removes oldest first.
At max level(4),She gains another ability, her final called Reflection Shield
Reflection Shield (max level): Reflects 50% melee/magic damage back.
These make her a "win condition" solo, mimicking heals like Life Leech or buffs like Bloodlust to outlast foes.

The Epic Battle: Please I would love you to watch this battle.
Ruleset and Lineup
The total mana cost was 23,so the options in choosing units is minimal and you are to choose splinters from life & neutral elements only.
Rulesets.
Earthquake: All non-flying and non-snared units take 2 physical damage at the beginning of each round, starting from round 2.
Fog of War: Units lose Snipe, Sneak, and Opportunity.
Armoured Up: All units gain +2 Armor.
With no flying monsters in my pool and limited low-mana options, I had to get creative.
My Team (Option A)
Summoner: Elias Max Pruitt
- Grants +1 Melee and +1 Armor to all friendly units.
- Bestows Cleanse and Repair to the first unit.
Lineup:
- Position 1 (Tank): Hungry Ulund (Ranged attack) — chosen as my frontline tank (yes, a hasty tank choice,I admit).
- Position 2: Olivia of the Brook (Melee/Magic attack with Opportunity — which was nullified by Fog of War left with only her powerful Mimic ability).
- Position 3: Meriput Magician (with tank support role).
Opponent’s Team.
Summoner: Avina of the Wolf
(He chose to grant Heal to one unit instead of +2 Speed to two)
Lineup:
- Position 1: Halfling Refugee (Melee) + Weary Ulindin with Flank (no attack in 2nd spot)
- Position 3: Palimpsest Prophet (Melee, Flying + Charge)
- Position 4: Ironwing Juggernaut (Melee with Weary + Charge)

Round 1,here is the complete lineup as stated above.
Round 2
From round 2 onward, Earthquake started chipping away at everyone on the ground. My team felt it badly with no flyers.Hungry Ulund held the tank position as long as he could but eventually fell to the constant 2 damage per round combined with enemy pressure.
When he died, Olivia of the Brook stepped forward into the tank role, and that’s when the magic truly began.
Thanks to her Mimic ability, Olivia started copying powerful skills from the enemy:
She first gained the Heal ability, allowing her to self-sustain round after round.
She also benefited from Elias Max Pruitt’s Repair (and Cleanse) that transferred as she became the lead unit.
Later, she mimicked Flying from the Palimpsest Prophet. From that moment, Earthquake no longer touched her. She had effectively become immune to one of the deadliest rulesets on the board.
My other monsters eventually succumbed to the grinding damage and enemy melee attacks, but Olivia single-handedly took on the remaining three enemy monsters.

Round 13,one against one
Round 15,game over
Here’s the battle replay for anyone who wants to watch the full 15-round epic:
Battle

My Verdict
For the final stretch of this 15-round epic, the Queen of Mimicking stood tall, healing herself every round, ignoring Earthquake, and outlasting the opponent’s entire backline.Olivia didn’t just survive, she carried the entire match on her back.
