Todd McFarlane: Giving Artists The NFT Roadmap

Back in middle and high school, I collected comics and Spawn was one of my favorites. Todd McFarlane is the artist behind the character and now 30 years later, I'm collecting Todd's work again.

Todd is still being Todd.

In the 90's he showed how a comic that wasn't Marvel or DC could still be a huge success. He showed gave artists a roadmap on how to create darker, yet engaging characters and how to sell it to the masses. Something that many artists would repeat over the years.

Now, he's showing artists how to navigate the NFTs in this Wild West era.

Todd's memorable Batman art was used on VeVe in their first ever release on their platform. The "Todd Batman" is one of the most desired pieces on the platform and is going for a grand right now.

They released a blue version that matches the limited toys released, and that one is around $175. They are holding their value well in this bear market.

After his artwork was recognized by crypto heads and digital collectors on VeVe, he branched out.

He partnered with OddKey to release iconic Spawn comic covers with animation. Some are even signed. It is really cool.

Those have sold well, and maintained a solid value in the market.

After he had two different NFT platforms selling his art... it was time to do his own thing.

On McFarlaneToys... he created a digital platform for NFTs.

His own platform with a showroom you can place your collectibles.

It is pretty cool... check it out.

I've got a few pieces on there, and on the Discord, they said that there will be airdrops for holding sets.

I have one of each of his Spawn set, and I'm looking to buy an animated dragon. I jut think they are cool. I was lucky to get in back before Matic spiked recently, but Todd is quickly becoming one of the most popular NFT artists out there.

He even has his art on DC Hro, and his common card is 9 times more valuable than any other common.

There is even some talks that Todd's art could be featured in Splinterlands.

Todd is doing what he's always done... he is letting his art blaze a path for other artists to follow.

Thanks for reading.

Spawn was definitely iconic. It's just the uneven design of his boots doesn't sit well with me. Triggers an OCD part of my brain, I guess. 😅
