A snowy #featheredfriday

#featheredfriday by me! @melinda010100 Remember to post your link here so that other bird watchers can easily find it. And do go by and support the other #featheredfriday posts! We all appreciate the comments!

My backyard birds were all hunkered down and the snow continued to come down all day. Just as it is beginning to get dark, the wind has quit and a few birds are venturing out.

You can see how deep the snow is on the roof of the bird feeder.

We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground. It appears that this young cardinal is coping well with his first snowfall.

We all think that snow on Halloween is a bit ridiculous!

It's really weird that there is snow on Halloween

It is very weird. I remain hopeful that we will have a mild November, once this unstable weather passes!

I hope so. I will still take many photos of the beach and flowers and send them to you!

We drove up to a tool concert in the snow in milwaukee. Poor birds have to deal with early snow.

It's time for the birds to head for warmer weather isn't it? Or do some of them stay throughout the winter?

All the fair weather birds have left, but many stay year round. The cardinals stay. So do the woodpeckers, bluejays, nuthatches and chickadees. A couple types of finches stay. The juncos come here from Canada. I guess they think this IS south! Several owls come down from further north. I keep the feeders full all year round.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I am sure it is good to have them around for company in the cold winter months.

Apparently it wasn't just the one sprinkling, eh?
I was thinking about seeing if I'm technical enough to make my own token. I hear it has become easier recently. I can't code, but I'm good with general computer stuff, so we'll see. If I do make one, I'll consider giving it a use similar to the cc coin you're using. All depends what settings are allowed! It's cool when it encourages commenting. I wonder what other good things could be encouraged with the right token incentive.

It is nice to have a Tokens that have a real use!

If I do it, I'll use that to focus how I figure out how it'll work.
I've always believed that what gives something value is usefulness and scarcity. I should keep the total number of the tokens down, in that case. Cool. :)
Thanks!

WOW that is some plummage! We don't get anything quite that bright in the UK but we still have our fair share of interesting birds to observe. $trdo

Thanks for the Tokens! Cardinals do provide a bright spot all winter long. I have had friends fron the UK visit me who are amazed by all the brightly colored birds who visit my feeder.

First show <3
We had our first snow yesterday, but it was more likely to a dust. Today is sunny again.
Hope to find some birds in my photo archive for today's challenge :) Have a nice day, Melinda!

We have snow in the forecast everyday next week. The autumn leaves are falling on top of the snow. It's rather depressing! Hope you find some birds.

I would like to see the snow @melinda010100, in my country snow falls on the Pico Bolívar in the State of Mérida, but it is not possible to see it since it falls only a few days and I live retired from there. We never know when it falls, only the snow-hunters are the ones who comment on the news. And that cardinal seems to me very bold being on the snow that is so cold, of course, they are feathered and can withstand that cold a bit. Cute cardinal and nice post friend. TRDO

Snow is beautiful to look at through the window when you can stay warm and cozy indoors. I will be really tired of looking at by next April.

The Cardinal stands out so vividly against the snow. It will be here soon enough. lol

Well, you beat us with the snow this year. It is supposed to get very cold here in the next couple of days. Along with the cold weather there are some flurries in the forecast. Darn where did the warmer weather go.

They are predicting snow here everyday all week! It feels like winter has arrived during the middle of autumn! Leaves are falling on top of the snow

Well at least you don't have to rake the leaves as they are blanketed with the white stuff. Out of sight out of mind.
Yesterday we had a few snow flurries, but nothing major. The temperature plunged last night to 28* f

Stay warm my friend and crank up the heat.

Cardinal bird with snow looks more like an early Christmas, what a lovely view to see the soft white snow in contrast to your red feathered friend @melinda010100

Thanks, @joanstewart and thanks for your curate vote! It's the green leaves that don't belong in a Christmas photo! It seems so odd to have snow when the leaves are on the trees.

Ha! Love the fur-bird. He looks a bit miserable, though. Perphaps your daughter could make him a little squirrel-house with insulation. Ooh, and a nut-silo!

The snow looks beautiful... from way over here! Hope you're coping with it well. Your birds are beautiful.. love that Cardinal. I thought they would have migrated?

Cardinals stay here year round. I'm not sure how they manage the bitter cold nights, but they are always the first ones to the feeder every morning.

That is ridicules, although I must say that red Cardinal in the snow is always beautiful. And he is lucky to have you, making sure he has enough food @tipu curate 😍

Poor guy! None of us were ready for this. Thanks for the tipu vote. I have learned that to do well on tipu you must vote early before the post has very many votes. I still don't get how it all works!

Horrible, I know! And you are welcome Melinda............I just curate posts that don't have high upvote, but they should. It's usually works, but sometimes I doesn't go trough. I don't know why.

If you go to tipu.online and click on curation you can see where you stand and how many votes you have. By paying attention to my votes I have moved from a level 0 to level 4 this week. I get more votes and they are worth more now.

I am not sure if that's ever going to happen. Yesterday, I curated new post with only few votes, but it was never upvoted by tipu and today has votes worth of $10.00. It seems like hit or miss to me, lol.

It appears to me that you can't get tipu to vote unless you have some vote value. But what do I know! If I look at the curation list you now have a .61 tipu vote. Just don't vote for someone that you have already voted for in the past 11 days.

Oh that's what t is? every 11 days? I cannot possibly keep track of that! I am busy as it is! But it happened even with accounts I didn't even know. Is it every 11 days including all tipu curatings or just my?

Yeah snow on Halloween is getting ridiculous for sure! Not just snow, SIX INCHES of snow, dang. Great photos though and the Cardinal contrasts beautifully with the snow. lol.

I loved seeing cardinals when I lived in Wisconsin! So pretty to see anything that red existing in nature. You did a great job capturing these images
