Splinterlands Chaos

I advanced to Bronze II

This is the second season I can finish above Bronze III.
I opened 10 packs and have enough Power to enter Bronze II.

(btw I am playing with @normaluser)

250 Packs

Driven by heavy FOMO, I bought 200 packs in the public sale.
I desperately wanted those airdrops.
I got one standard Lira The Dark.

Not Opening Packs (anymore)

I will not be opening packs anymore, until the sale is complete.
I found some important info here: https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@celestal/why-im-not-opening-my-chaos-legion-packs-yet
Basically: When the airdrops are complete, there is a chance for those cards to be in the Chaos packs. This means, opening the packs later will give better chances for good cards.

Sentiment

The sale is going much slower than I expected.
I think the vouchers played a part in it.
A lot of people seem frustrated.

Strategy

Splinterlands is hard.
Free to play is pretty much pointless.
Chaos Legion sure shook things up and the little knowledge of my cards I had was rendered almost useless, again. The newbie deck I got now is weaker than the one I had before.
I will probably open 100 packs and see how far that will get me.
The rest are meant as an investment.

Chaos Legion Unsettled a lot of things, if you basically don't have money it's difficult to earn well with Splinterlands. I've been kicked here and there and it's very difficult to leave the bronze leagues. I bought 110 packs myself due to that FOMO and might probably hodl till next year.

it's an investment friend #Splinterlands it's a great game and if you have to have a good deck of cards that Chaos Legion can still be purchased or they are no longer

i tried to get some friends in to it recently, even delegated some awesome cards, but I think the lower tiers are just too off-putting for people. Too much of a grind. The rewards suck. Its a shame. I compete in gold league and I would happily see some of the rewards I get spread to the lower tiers to make it feel more prosperous for beginners. Otherwise we are just turning players away and we all want growth in the longer term

The rewards suck.

The rewards are not even rewards. Almost constantly getting the worthless alchemy potion charges and the legendary potion charges for completing the daily quests can be very demotivating.

So demotivating that I have not even done the daily quests in the previous few days.

It is a struggle for hours for nothing. It is simply not worth it.

A lot of people seem frustrated.

Seeing the recent huge card price drops, who is not frustrated?

My total Splinterlands card collection is currently worth $417.34 USD. It was more than $900 USD before the arrival of the Chaos Legion. And I have not sold any card. I earned cards, and I even received some as a gift. Even card pack gifts from @captainquack22.

You can not judge these things independently of the market at large.
BTC almost halved. The whole market is bearish and all things considered, the cards are still doing alright.

Holding only like 20 packs myself, trying to stack DEC so that I can buy particular cards to rent out. Playing as much as possible but same, it’s a grind to get up to Bronze II and when you do the rewards are still basically non existent.
