Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.

In this post, I will share my dramatic battle against an opponent who used 2 PROMO cards from REBELLION Edition (Mantaroth and Grimbardun Smith). But not only those 2 promo cards, the opponent also brought 1 more REBELLION card in this battle. So I faced 3 REBELLION cards this time...

REBELLION's Promo Cards

In mid-October, SPLINTERLANDS started the pre-sale for their latest release, REBELLION. For every purchase of a certain amount, they will get a promo card. But it's not 1 promo card that they can get, but 2 at once.

The first promo card that can be obtained is Grimbardun Smith which can be obtained when buying 10 Rebellion packs during the pre-sale. The second promo card is Mantaroth which can be obtained when buying 100 Rebellion packs during the Pre-sale. However, in purchasing 1 Rebellion pack during the Pre-sale, buyers have a 1% chance to get Mantaroth.

And the pre-sale ended in mid-November. To be able to get the 2 promo cards, there is no other way but to buy them in the Market that has been provided.

I faced one of the promo cards above (Mantaroth) and ended up losing badly because Mantaroth has the ARMORED STRIKE ability that allows him to attack twice, the first attack using the total ARMOR he has at that time and the other using his Attack power.

In this battle, I had to face 3 REBELLION Cards at once. 2 Promo cards (Mantaroth and Grimbardun Smith) and 1 Legendary Card (Runeseer Sevaya).

Battle

Ruleset untuk pertempuran kali ini adalah UP TO ELEVEN (Seluruh monster mendapat AMPLIFY ability), EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY (Seluruh monster mendapt BLAST ability), dan SILENCED SUMMONER (Ability dari Summoner dinonaktifkan).

2 of the 3 REBELLION Cards brought by the opponent are No-Attack monsters, so the opponent uses a monster that has WEAPONS TRAINING ability (Aves Sturgis) so that the 2 monsters have attack power.

Meanwhile, Mantaroth was placed in the first position opposite Void Dragon.

Runeseer Sevaya gives an additional 2 ARMOR to all opponent monsters so that Mantaroth has 6 ATTACK POWER coming from his ARMOR. Runeseer Sevaya also gives another debuff in the form of BLIND ability (Decreases attack accuracy). Time Mage gives a debuff in the form of a reduction of 1 SPEED and 2 ARMOR.

To deal with the EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY ruleset, I had to bring 2 monsters with REFLECTION SHIELD ability to eliminate the effects of BLAST ability. Those 2 monsters are Venator Kinjo and Oshuur Constantia.

In the first round, Void Dragon attacks Mantaroth first and is followed by Time Mage who is forced to attack Terraceous Hulk because he has the TAUNT ability (attacks from all monsters except TANK and monsters with certain abilities, directed at him).

In this round, Chaos Dragon (who has the SCATTER SHOT ability) directed his attack at Carnage Titan (so that Mantaroth and Grimbardun Smith took extra damage from the BLAST ability).

2 Attacks from Carnage Titan (who has DOUBLE STRIKE ability) successfully hit Void Dragon and defeated Vruz. Then Mantaroth defeated Void Dragon and Vruz by using his 6 ARMORs and attacked Chaos Dragon using his ATTACK POWER of 3 points.

Oshuur Constantia attacked Mantaroth while the other 3 opposing monsters (Grimbardun Smith, Aves Sturgis, and Runeseer Sevaya) were forced to attack Terraceous Hulk.

In the second round, Carnage Titan lost due to Extra Damage from BLAST ability launched by Chaos Dragon when attacking Mantaroth. Mantaroth had attacked Chaos Dragon using the ARMORED STRIKE ability before finally being defeated by Oshuur Constantia.

The 3 opposing monsters (Time Mage, Runeseer Sevaya, and Aves Sturgis) managed to defeat Terraceous Hulk. Meanwhile, Grimbardun Smith who is now in first place attacked Chaos Dragon.

In the third round, Aves Sturgis suffered the same fate as Carnage Titan in the second round, where he lost due to the Extra Damage from BLAST ability that Chaos Dragon launched at Grimbardun Smith. Grimbardun Smith, Time Mage, and Runeseer Sevaya* attacked Chaos Dragon until it left 1 Health point.

Oshuur Constantia dealt some damage to Grimbardun Smith and Runeseer Sevaya.

In the fourth round, again Chaos Dragon defeated the opponent's monster using the BLAST ability. This time, it was Runeseer Sevaya's turn to take extra damage when Chaos Dragon attacked Grimbardun Smith. But after that, Chaos Dragon was defeated by Time Mage.

Although Venator Kinjo did not deal any damage to Grimbardun Smith, the Extra Damage from BLAST ability still hit Time Mage.

In the last round, Time Mage managed to defeat Venator Kinjo. However, Oshuur Constantia managed to defeat both of them (Time Mage and Grimbardun Smith) because they only had 1 Health point left.

Battle Review

I was pessimistic when I saw my opponent using Mantaroth when I wanted to use my favorite strategy (Hi-speed + BLIND ). Because with Mantaroth who already has TRUE STRIKE ability, this strategy is completely useless. Coupled with 2 attacks from Carnage Titan that successfully hit Void Dragon (even though he doesn't have the TRUE STRIKE ability)

But I was saved because Terraceous Hulk managed to buy time by forcing the attacks of the opponent's 4 Magic monsters to be directed at him (if I had used Mycelic Slipspawn instead of Terraceous Hulk*, maybe the opponent would have quickly defeated him and focused their attacks on the monster in the first position).

I was also helped by Vruz and Oshuur Constantia so that Chaos Dragon received 2 extra stats points and made some of the opponent's monsters in the second position lose even though they only received 1 extra damage from the BLAST ability.
