Alejandro Otero Rodríguez (El Manteco, Bolívar state, Venezuela, March 7, 1921 - Caracas, Venezuela, August 13, 1990) was a Venezuelan painter and sculptor. Together with Jesús Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez, he is one of the most important kinetic artists in Venezuela.

Alejandro Otero married the painter Mercedes Pardo (1978 National Prize for Plastic Arts) with whom he had four children Alejandro, Gil, Mercedes and Carolina Otero.

By presidential decree and as a posthumous tribute on August 14, 1990, the La Rinconada Art Museum Foundation assumed the name of the Alejandro Otero Visual Arts Museum Foundation. The Bolívar State Government created the Alejandro Otero Plastic Arts Award. He represented Venezuela in 1991 at the XXI Sao Paulo Biennial with 75 works and is awarded an Honorable Mention post mortem. The video Alejandro Otero: Art for the 20th century, made by Xavier Sarabia, was presented at that event.

In commemoration of the first anniversary of his death, the Alejandro Otero Visual Arts Museum organized an exhibition that included the definitive version of the Orthogonal Collages made by means of the computer and the first outdoor sculpture test in color A flower for Nora Two of his works were restored and installed on the Caracas-La Guaira highway: Abra solar and Los Cerritos, the latter carried out with Mercedes Pardo. The National Art Gallery Foundation (FGAN) owns several works from Otero, belonging to his various stages.
