Don't You Dare Bully My Child - 286

Just some days ago when I wrote on a prompt about physical and online bullying. Bullying has eaten deep into our society so much that it has started to look like a normal act that doesn't get an instant caution.

You would see people been bullied up to the point of committing suicide, isolating themselves from the society or not feeling safe and confident in themselves being a victim and the least I can even withstand to see is having someone close to me go through such.

However, in schools now, we have students who were brought up in the hands of bullying parent or whatever and they've also grown to become an offspring of bullying.
Students especially victims dread to go to school because they will be bullied by that senior student and worst of it is that it doesn't even necessarily have to be a senior and it can always be someone from same class as the victims but born with the bloodline of being a bully.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are enough precautions on these acts and that's why bullying never cease to stop especially from this primary and basic level which is in school.
So, let's say my child happens to go to the same school with such bullying student, this is what I'll tell him or her even before I stand in to interfere:

When that boy or girl come close to you to bully you again, do not be afraid, he is only like a Goliath with no power and the moment you are courageous to face him, stand up to him and his guts, he won't come for you anymore.

It is one thing to fight for and defend a victim of bullying but it's another thing for such victim to be able to stand up for themselves and fight for themselves. Then if it's past what they can handle then they can seek help but their primary courage is needed to stand up for themselves and that's what I'll build in my child because I won't be there everytime to defend him/her neither will the teachers in school be available everytime.

Afterwards, the school authorities would have to hear from me on why my child has to be bullied in school without them stopping such acts amidst their students.
I don't joke with my family so I'm sure I'm not gonna sit well with someone toying with my child's stable mind.

A lot of videos, of people bullying otherd are circulating online now. Like, they really have the guts to record their crime. But thanks to that, they can be punished. Its sad that a lot of kids and even adults experienced this, and how about their mental health. I wish they make this a big deal now so that this bullying will be stop.

Bullying should not be tolerated any more, it has taken alot of life, both young and old.

Like seriously o. We're all just looking at it as a mere crime whereas it's dealing with people and eliminating them without the use of knife or gun.

It's so sad to hear most of these things especially the part where they bully till the victim's only option is committing suicide, I most times get to watch these things in movies especially the Korean movies and then, one time I heard that it was their reality.

Have I been bullied, of course, and because I was a young timid, and reserved young lady, they got away with it, until they couldn't anymore because I stood up to my bullies.

I didn't know where the strength came from but that day, I fought like it was the end for me and ever since then, they stayed away from my lane.

I do not want to imagine the first thing I would do to a bully when I get to here he or she bullied my child but I am not just going to be talking to her/him when I see them.

God bless you Nwaadiaha.... That's the only cure to every bullying disease which is standing up to them and fighting for oneself

Their so-called powers melt in them with that. I have once been bullied too even if it was for a day but it sticks to my memory till date

I was bullied because I was too small and thin back then in my Junior Secondary School. I was called a chewing stick to crown the whole thing, so I understand what you are saying

Exactly Marivic you get the point. There are some traits and behavior that are gotten by inheritance through genes and it doesn't even have to be till we teach those children before the foundation of those bad acts or good acts are laid in them before we as parent start to build on it for them.

Unfortunately, bullying has been around for generations and probably will continue well into the future. I don't understand why children (and adults even) have to be just so doggone mean! Are they so insecure in their own foundations that they must belittle others to fell like they're the 'big man' or woman? We are supposed to love one another, yet somehow, some miss that particular command.

I think too many people turn a blind eye to things anymore combined with people want what they want without any regard to how it might affect another person. The 'me' syndrome, if you will.

In my thoughts, I think it's eating deep and more into the world because it is not treated as a deadly crime just like all these murder cases and with these offenders felt it's normal to do it and go score free.

When severe judgment and punishment is established then I'm sure their "me" syndrome would melt off

It’s regrettable to see this sort of behaviour in children, which is intended to cause harm, intimidate or subdue others. Your decision to teach your child the importance of standing up for themselves is a wise one, as you say, in case you’re not there to defend them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts,
